Are you an inspirational leader with a passion for logistics, operational excellence, and strategic customer partnerships? We are looking for an experienced General Manager to lead our Tata Steel MLE Control Tower operation in IJmuiden. As General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and strategic development of one of our most important logistics operations. Leading a team of over 25 logistics professionals, you will drive a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. In this role, you will ensure operational excellence across health & safety, service quality, capacity, costs, sustainability, and customer satisfaction. You will act as a trusted advisor to Tata Steel, proactively supporting future supply chain challenges while identifying opportunities to strengthen and grow our long-standing strategic partnership. As a member of the Freight Management Leadership Team, you will contribute to the broader business strategy, support growth initiatives, and champion the values and culture of Multimodal Solutions. Location: IJmuiden, The Netherlands Hours per Week: 40 Key Responsibilities You will have full accountability for the performance, development, and growth of the Tata Steel Control Tower operation. Working closely with both internal and external stakeholders, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality logistics services while driving innovation and continuous improvement. Next to this you will: Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing Control Tower organisation of approximately 25 FTE. Drive operational excellence through effective transport management, planning, execution, and value-added logistics services. Drive Health & Safety excellence, ensuring Zero Harm and full compliance. Build and maintain strategic relationships with Tata Steel leadership and key stakeholders. Lead continuous improvement and transformation initiatives focused on efficiency, sustainability, and customer value. Deliver agreed financial, operational, and commercial targets while ensuring effective governance and risk management. Contribute actively to the Freight Management Leadership Team and support the execution of the wider business strategy. Your Profile Significant leadership experience within logistics, supply chain management, transport management, or a comparable operational environment. Experience driving a strong safety culture through leadership, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives. Proven track record of managing large teams and delivering results within complex customer-focused operations. Strong stakeholder management skills with experience engaging senior customer leadership teams. Demonstrated success in driving operational excellence, business transformation, and continuous improvement initiatives. Experience managing budgets, profitability targets, business performance, and commercial objectives. Strong understanding of European transport and logistics markets. Knowledge of Control Tower operations, supply chain optimisation, and logistics network management. Understanding of sustainability challenges and developments within transportation and logistics. Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English. Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into practical business decisions. Candidates should have strong safety, stakeholder, commercial, and continuous-improvement capabilities, knowledge of European transport and logistics markets and Control Tower operations, analytical skills, and excellent Dutch and English communication skills.
