R&D Engineer – Inkjet Technology
Key Skills
Job Description
About This Vacancy Are you fascinated by the science behind advanced technology? Do you enjoy combining experimentation, data analysis, and physical modelling to solve complex engineering challenges? If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. We are looking for a Print Process Developer to join an innovative R&D team developing the next generation of industrial inkjet printing technology. In this role, you will explore the physics behind the printing process and develop solutions that directly contribute to future products and applications. From ink behavior and droplet formation to media interaction and drying processes, you will investigate the fundamental mechanisms that determine print quality and system performance. This is a highly multidisciplinary role where scientific insight is translated into technology that works in real-world printing systems. As a Print Process Developer, you will work on complex technical challenges at the intersection of physics, chemistry, and engineering. Your Responsibilities Will Include Investigating printing phenomena through experiments, measurements, data analysis, and physical modelling. Developing and optimizing print processes involving inks, printheads, media, drying, fixation, and image processing. Translating print-quality challenges and application requirements into physical questions and technical solutions. Designing and executing experiments using laboratory setups and industrial printing systems. Building, validating, and refining physical models to explain and predict process behavior. Analyzing complex datasets and using insights to improve print performance. Collaborating with specialists from multiple disciplines to understand process interactions and trade-offs. Converting scientific knowledge into robust, scalable solutions for future products and applications. You will be part of a multidisciplinary R&D organization where innovation is driven by collaboration. Working alongside physicists, chemists, engineers, software developers, and technology specialists, you will tackle challenges ranging from: Fluid dynamics Droplet generation and jetting behavior Ink-media interactions Drying and fixation processes Print quality optimization Process modelling and validation The unique aspect of this role is that you will not only develop theories and models but also test them directly on experimental setups and real industrial printing systems. What We Expect From You We are looking for a curious and analytical professional who enjoys understanding how complex systems work and translating scientific knowledge into practical solutions. Qualifications BSc, MSc or PhD in Physics, Applied Physics or Chemistry with a strong interest in material science Strong understanding of physical principles and engineering fundamentals. Hands-on experience or affinity with experimental research and measurement techniques. Ability to describe physical behavior through calculations, models, and data analysis. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. A structured approach to investigating and testing hypotheses. Interest in bridging the gap between scientific research and product development. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Fluent in spoken and written English. What You Can Expect From Us The opportunity to work on cutting-edge inkjet technology within a highly innovative R&D environment. Challenging technical projects that combine physics, experimentation, modelling, and engineering. Collaboration with experienced specialists across multiple disciplines. A culture that encourages curiosity, innovation, and continuous learning. The chance to see your ideas evolve from scientific concepts into technologies used in real-world products. Excellent opportunities for personal and professional development.
