About the RolB Secfi is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to build and improve the systems behind its equity planning, financing, wealth management, and AI-powered financial planning products. You will work on complex challenges involving financial modelling, multi-jurisdiction tax logic, private asset forecasting, and accurate financial data. Working in a small, cross-functional team alongside backend and frontend engineers, designers, and product colleagues, you will have significant ownership of technical decisions and product outcomes. Reporting to the Head of Product & Technology, you will help develop Maeve, Secfi's agentic financial planner, and turn manual business processes into reliable software systems. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain the backend systems powering Maeve, connecting AI capabilities with customer financial data and proprietary calculation engines. Develop AI-powered financial planning systems using AWS Bedrock, Claude, LangChain, and LangSmith. Build and improve financial calculation engines covering tax logic, financial modelling, and forecasting the value of private equity. Develop customer-facing product features across equity planning tools, onboarding, and financing workflows. Automate manual processes in underwriting, contract management, and financial advisor workflows. Design, develop, and maintain production backend services and REST APIs. Model relational data effectively and ensure data quality, reliability, and correctness across financial systems. Understand customer needs, financial workflows, and domain requirements to make informed technical decisions. Measure the impact of delivered features and use results to guide product and engineering improvements. Collaborate with product, design, frontend, and backend teammates to deliver solutions in a high-ownership environment. Required Qualifications Strong Python development skills, including experience building and deploying production services. Extensive experience with Python web frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask. Experience building customer-facing systems for a core product and delivering measurable impact. Strong SQL and relational database skills, including data modelling and understanding database behavior. Experience designing and building REST APIs. Experience deploying and operating production services on AWS or an equivalent public cloud platform. A technology-agnostic approach, with the ability to choose tools based on the problem being solved. Experience working in an unstructured, high-ownership environment, such as a startup, scaleup, or similarly agile organization. A proactive approach to understanding customer needs, business context, and the domain behind the product. A degree in a STEM discipline; a computer science degree is not required. Preferred Qualifications Experience building AI agents professionally or through personal projects, with an interest in emerging technologies. Previous startup or scaleup experience involving varied responsibilities and a fast pace of work. Experience in complex or regulated industries such as fintech, biotechnology, or security. Familiarity with GraphQL. An interest in analytics and measuring the impact of engineering work. Technology Stack Python, FastAPI, Django, or Flask. AWS or an equivalent public cloud platform. AWS Bedrock and Claude, with a model-agnostic approach to AI development. LangChain and LangSmith. Claude Code Premium and multiple coding agents. Salary & Benefits Annual compensation of €90,000–€110,000, including an 8% holiday allowance. 5% employer pension contribution. Bonus and stock options. Dutch employment contract for an initial one-year term, with an indefinite contract thereafter. Visa sponsorship, assistance with the 30% ruling, and relocation support for eligible candidates. Up to four to six weeks of fully remote work per year. Company trips, including a fully paid ski trip and hiking trips in Norway. You will work closely with product and design colleagues while benefiting from limited opportunities for fully remote work.

Automate financial and operational workflows, ensure reliable financial data, and collaborate across product, design, and engineering to deliver and measure customer-focused improvements.

Requirements

Candidates need strong Python and web-framework experience, SQL and relational data modeling skills, REST API development experience, and experience deploying production services on AWS or an equivalent cloud platform. The role also calls for customer-focused product delivery, comfort in a high-ownership environment, proactive domain learning, and a STEM degree; AI agent development, startup experience, regulated-industry experience, and GraphQL are preferred.
