Job Description

About the team Dispute automation for European e-commerce. European merchants lose a significant share of their revenue to chargebacks and payment disputes, and most of it is recoverable. The problem: disputes are spread across fragmented payment rails like Klarna, PayPal, Mollie, Adyen, iDEAL/Wero, and card schemes, each with its own rules, deadlines, and evidence requirements. US-centric tools don’t solve this for European payment methods. We do. We automate the full dispute process for merchants, from detecting a dispute to collecting evidence and building a winning case. We’re a lean, high-impact team that already handles disputes for merchants across Europe, and we are now looking for a Product Engineer to help us scale it. About the role Builder of the product our merchants rely on. As our Product Engineer, you will own features from the first merchant conversation to production. This isn’t a role for picking up tickets from a backlog. You decide what to build, how to build it, and whether it actually won more disputes. You will work side by side with the founding team, our engineers, and our dispute analysts, turning deep payment-dispute expertise into automated, reliable products. You understand the merchant as well as the code, and you care about both equally. In this role, you will Own it end to end. Own the product, not just the code Shape the product roadmap together with the founding team, based on what you learn from merchants, dispute outcomes, and data. Connect the payment landscape Build and maintain integrations with PSPs, payment methods, and merchant systems (e-commerce platforms, helpdesks, carriers), so disputes and evidence flow in automatically. Automate evidence and representment Turn manual dispute handling into automated workflows: collecting order, shipping, and communication data, and building evidence packages that meet each provider’s requirements and deadlines. Ship fast, ship well Design, build, and release features in short cycles, from backend services and APIs to the dashboards merchants and analysts work in. Talk to users Join merchant calls, work closely with our dispute analysts, and use what you learn to decide what comes next. Build durable systems Write clean, tested, observable code on GCP. Disputes have hard deadlines and real money at stake, so you own what you ship, including how it behaves in production. You might thrive here if you Sound like this. 5 to 10 years of experience as a software or product engineer, ideally in a fast-moving startup or scale-up. Fluent in Python, with deep experience building backend services, APIs, and integrations with third-party platforms. Hands-on experience with GCP (e.g., Cloud Run, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL) and modern cloud infrastructure. Comfortable across the stack. You can build the interface when the product needs it. Product-minded. You ask “why” before “how”, and you measure success by merchant impact, not lines of code. A builder who shows, not tells. You prove how good you are by shipping elegant, working solutions. Thrives on autonomy and ownership. You want guidance, not guardrails. A listener and a collaborator. You know the best ideas come from group conversations and you’re eager to build a common vision with a small, brilliant team. Based in the Randstad, so you can work with the team in person regularly. Bonus points if you Have worked in payments, fintech, or e-commerce, for example at a PSP, acquirer, payment platform, or online retailer. Know your way around chargebacks, disputes, or fraud, or have built integrations with payment providers like Visa, Mastercard, Adyen, Mollie, Klarna, PayPal, or Stripe.

Core Responsibilities

Own product features from merchant discovery through production, shaping the roadmap and measuring impact on dispute outcomes. Build payment and merchant-system integrations, automate evidence collection and case submission, and deliver reliable backend services, APIs, and user interfaces.

Requirements

The role calls for 5–10 years of software or product engineering experience, strong Python skills, and substantial experience building backend services, APIs, and third-party integrations. Candidates should have hands-on GCP and cloud infrastructure experience, be comfortable working across the stack, and bring product judgment, autonomy, collaboration skills, and the ability to work regularly with the team in the Randstad.
