Job Description

Company Description

The Hoxton, Lloyd is set in a historic building in Amsterdam’s Eastern Docklands, bringing together a unique mix of heritage, design and culture. With 136 bedrooms, vibrant public spaces and a strong connection to the neighbourhood, our hotel is a place where guests and locals come together.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and guest-focused Front Office Intern to join our team and support the day-to-day running of our Front Office. Reporting to our Front Office Manager, you’ll be one of the first faces our guests meet, helping create a warm welcome and a memorable experience from arrival to departure. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in hotel operations, guest relations and the little details that make a stay at The Hoxton feel different.

Job Description

What you'll do...

  • You're the first face our guests see, and you have your own way of treating them as individuals, making them feel welcome and their stay special - the Hox way
  • Deal with the coming and going of guests, making sure all bills are correct and contain no surprises
  • Work with all our teams to make sure we're always busy, and help our Front Office Manager with any overbooking levels
  • Answer phones, sort out requests, give recommendations to the best show to see and the latest pop-up restaurant to try in the area - you're the one-stop-shop for our guests to turn to
  • You’re our gatekeeper for the hotel. You know who’s who and what’s what.
  • And yes, there’s a little admin... Some expenses, some lists and a stationary order or two. But let’s face it, we know you love that!

Qualifications

What we're looking for...

  • It's all about attitude for us, someone who enjoys being helpful to others; that person who makes you feel confident they can answer any question and who you'd want to stop and chat to
  • Previous hotel (or similar) experience is great, but it's not a must-have for us - if you're eager to learn we can teach you what you need to know
  • Individuals. You’re looking for a place where you can be you; no clones in suits here
  • Passion for hospitality – whether that’s a drink, a meal, an event or a bed for the night
  • You’re all about having a positive impact on the people you interact with, leaving them with a memorable experience
  • You’re not precious. We leave our egos at the door and help get shit done
  • You’re up for doing things differently and trying (almost) everything once
  • If we got stuck in a lift together, we’d have a good time and share a few laughs
  • You want to be part of a team that works hard, supports each other and has fun along the way.
  • You are available for at least 6 months.

Additional Information

What's in it for you…

  • €750 gross per month, based on a full-time internship.
  • Food on us during your shift.
  • Enjoy a free night at The Hoxton and a meal for two when you first start with us.
  • Training and development opportunities to help you grow throughout your internship.
  • Time off to volunteer with one of our partner charities.
  • Hox Hero, our reward for going the extra mile and living our values.
  • A chance to get involved in our diversity and inclusion initiatives and help make The Hoxton a welcoming place for everyone.
  • Regular team get-togethers, celebrations and parties – we work hard, but we make time to have fun, too.
  • The opportunity to take ownership, share ideas and make a real contribution to guest experience.
  • Excellent discounts across The Hoxton and the global Ennismore family.
  • Job-Category: Rooms
  • Job Type: Internship
  • Job Schedule: Full-Time
  • Core Responsibilities

Welcome guests and support their experience from arrival to departure, including handling check-ins and check-outs, ensuring accurate bills, answering calls, and responding to requests. Coordinate with hotel teams, assist with overbooking management, provide local recommendations, and handle front office administration.

    Requirements

The role prioritizes a helpful, positive, guest-focused attitude and a passion for hospitality; previous hotel or similar experience is beneficial but not required. Applicants should be eager to learn, work collaboratively, and be available for at least six months.
