Job Description
Procurement Specialist
Return · Amsterdam, Netherlands · Full-time · Hybrid
About Return
Return is the leading European independent flexibility provider, committed to revolutionizing the energy sector. Headquartered in Amsterdam, with offices in Munich, Hamburg, Berlin, Brussels and Madrid, Return offers innovative, sustainable solutions to store and intelligently manage energy, ensuring power is used efficiently when and where it's needed most. With a rapidly growing presence across Europe, Return is at the forefront of the energy transition, integrating large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) to support grid stability, renewable energy integration, and Europe's net-zero goals. Driven by a team of experts, Return aims to provide reliable energy storage that powers the future of clean energy.
The role
As Procurement Specialist in the Procurement team, you support the contracting phase of our Balance of Plant (BOP) procurement — from preparing and running Request for Proposals through negotiation and signature. You work under the wing of the sourcing leads: they own the deals, you make sure every agreement is complete, consistent, and ready to sign — contract documents, redlines, open points, and approvals — and that signed contracts are handed over cleanly to the project teams who manage execution.
This is a role with a clear growth path: you learn from experienced sourcing and contract professionals, take ownership of contract administration early, and grow step by step toward negotiating complex energy infrastructure contracts with leading EPC contractors and global equipment suppliers for projects across our core markets(Netherlands, Germany and Spain).
What you will do
Draft and review NDA’s, purchase orders, framework agreements and call-offs, and supplier and contractor agreements, supporting the responsible sourcing lead
Support Requests for Proposal: prepare contract documents, run redline rounds, track open commercial and contractual points through to signature
Compare offers on commercial and contractual terms and participate in the negotiations: prepare deviation overviews and negotiation points for the sourcing lead
Coordinate input from legal, finance, insurance, and technical colleagues so contract packages are complete and consistent before signature
Maintain the contract register and manage handover of signed contracts to the project teams: final documents, obligations, guarantees, bonds, addendums etc.
Help improve procurement’s contract templates, playbooks, and contract management tools
What you bring
2–4 years of experience in procurement, contract administration, or a comparable commercial role — ideally on construction, infrastructure, or large scale (renewable) energy projects
BSc or MSc in Law, Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field
A feel for contract structures (scope, price, liability, guarantees); exposure to UAV-GC, FIDIC, or similar forms is a plus, not a must
Strong Excel and document management skills (Sharepoint or equal)
Structured and precise: you pro-actively keep versions, redlines, approvals, and documentation in order
Commercial awareness and the confidence to ask questions and flag risks to senior colleagues
Fluent in English; Dutch, German and/or Spanish is a plus
Based in The Netherlands or Germany
Willing to travel occasionally to partners across Europe
What we offer
A front-row seat in one of Europe’s fastest-growing energy storage developers, with real responsibility from day one
Working with leading EPC partners (Both HV and MV) and exposure to complex and creative contract structures
Mentoring from senior procurement and contract professionals, and a clear growth path toward senior contract management/procurement professional on flagship projects
Full-time, hybrid working from our Amsterdam headquarters
An entrepreneurial, collaborative team working on projects that matter for the energy transition
No recruiting
We do not work with recruitment agencies or external recruiters for our hiring process. Applications should be submitted directly through our careers page.
