Job Description

The role Define and drive our long-term semiconductor roadmap, owning the path from today's experimental QPUs towards 300 mm industrial-scale manufacturing and advanced 3D-integrated quantum processors. Groove Quantum is building the scalable quantum computer of the future based on semiconductor germanium quantum dots. As we scale towards large-scale quantum computers, your main mission will be to establish and lead Groove's semiconductor technology team. Building on our existing 300 mm development activities and foundry collaborations, you will translate QPU architecture requirements into concrete technology generations, guiding mask design, process integration, advanced packaging, and external foundry relationships to ensure manufacturability and high performance. Main responsibilities Semiconductor roadmap & industrialisation: Define and own Groove's long-term semiconductor manufacturing roadmap, establishing design rules, specifications, and process flows to transition from R&D fabrication to repeatable manufacturing. Foundry leadership & partner management: Take technical ownership of 300 mm technology development and joint programs with semiconductor foundries, research institutes, and packaging partners. Process integration & advanced packaging: Guide process integration across the QPU stack (materials, metallisation, interconnects) and drive the roadmap towards advanced packaging, heterogeneous integration, and 3D integration. Cross-functional QPU development: Collaborate closely with device, quantum hardware, and systems teams to translate performance data into process improvements and new mask set tape-outs. Team building & organisation: Recruit, lead, and mentor a multidisciplinary team of semiconductor engineers capable of owning the design, integration, and industrialisation of our platform. The team You will build and lead Groove’s Semiconductor Technology division. You will work as a hands-on technical leader, collaborating directly with Device Physicists, Quantum Hardware Engineers, Electronics Engineers, and Systems Engineers, while managing technical relationships with external foundries and packaging partners. This position reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). You’ll be joining a dynamic team of exceptionally bright individuals who take their craft seriously, but never take themselves too seriously. We pride ourselves on strong collaboration, an ambitious yet social culture, and genuine good vibes, where high performance and a great team spirit go hand in hand. Key qualifications We are looking for an accomplished semiconductor leader with strong technical ownership, proven experience driving complex hardware from concept through execution, and the ability to bridge semiconductor manufacturing with quantum physics. Education & industry experience: Advanced degree in electrical engineering, semiconductor physics, materials science, or a related field, backed by significant industrial experience in semiconductor process development. Process integration & foundry environment: Deep understanding of semiconductor process integration, device/yield interactions, and experience in 200 mm or 300 mm manufacturing and foundry collaboration environments. Roadmap & project leadership: Proven ability to define technical roadmaps, manage joint development programs with external partners, and translate long-term goals into concrete R&D execution. Advanced semiconductor techniques: Familiarity with mask design, tape-outs, design rules, or advanced packaging technologies (e.g., heterogeneous integration, chiplets, TSVs, 3D integration). Cross-disciplinary communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface smoothly between foundry partners, device physicists, and systems engineers. At Groove Quantum, we’re all about fresh perspectives and different backgrounds. Fun fact: research shows most people talk themselves out of applying because they don't hit 100% of the job specs. Don't do that! If this role excites you, hit apply anyway. We want to hear from you! Why join Groove Quantum Frontier Tech: Tackle high-impact problems at the forefront of the quantum revolution. A World-Class Team: Collaborate with an ambitious, international, and creative team in Delft's premier quantum ecosystem. Flexibility & Balance: Enjoy flexible hours, hybrid work, and 30 days of paid vacation (plus public holidays). Financial Growth & Equity: Receive a competitive salary, an 8% holiday allowance, and stock appreciation rights. Global Network: Expand your horizons with full backing for international conference travel and industry partnerships. We are committed to building an inclusive, supportive workplace where initiative is celebrated. Join us, bring your ideas, and scale your career as we shape the future of quantum technology.

Core Responsibilities

Define and lead the semiconductor manufacturing roadmap, moving quantum processor technology from research fabrication toward repeatable industrial-scale production. Lead process integration, foundry and packaging partnerships, advanced integration efforts, cross-functional development, and the semiconductor technology team.

Requirements

Requires an advanced degree in electrical engineering, semiconductor physics, materials science, or a related field, along with significant industrial semiconductor process-development experience. Candidates should bring deep process-integration and foundry experience, roadmap and joint-program leadership, familiarity with advanced packaging and mask design, and strong cross-disciplinary communication skills.

Benefits

  • Flexible Hours
  • Hybrid Work
  • 30 Days of Paid Vacation
  • Public Holidays
  • Competitive Salary
  • 8% Holiday Allowance
  • Stock Appreciation Rights
  • International Conference Travel
