WHAT WE DO Think of a satellite in orbit, a naval vessel out at sea or an aircraft wing in flight. Out there, ordinary sensors don’t last long, and that’s exactly where PhotonFirst’s technology does its work. From our base in Alkmaar, we develop sensing systems that use light to measure strain, temperature and shape, even under the harshest conditions. Our customers in defence, maritime, space and aerospace depend on that data. Through our PIC Packaging business, we also help other photonics companies turn their chips into robust, ready-to-use products. As demand keeps growing, so does our team. THE ROLE Be the end-to-end owner of finance, financial control and corporate governance within PhotonFirst – as member of the PhotonFirst Management Team; Take charge of financial strategy, fundraising preparation, shareholder governance and company secretarial matters; Actively contribute as a Management Team member to overall company strategy, funding, governance and future exit readiness; Make PhotonFirst ready for a next step in fundraising and/or investment; Step-in yourself and support getting financial, legal, tax and governance matters under control and ready for the next growth phase. YOU Like the dynamics of a small, fast-moving and rapidly changing company; Have experience in financial strategy: long-term planning, funding strategy, scenario modelling; Understand the key value drivers of a business and can translate strategy into financial priorities and value creation; Are forward-looking and commercially minded, not just reporting; Are digitally savvy and comfortable using modern IT, data and AI tools to improve finance, forecasting and decision-making; Have experience with corporate governance, board/shareholder matters and company secretarial responsibilities; Have experience with (international) VC fundraising, investor materials, transaction documentation and due diligence; Managed relationships with shareholders, banks, lenders, insurers, auditors, tax advisors and legal advisors; Exit experience: Successfully supported or led a previous exit process in a PE-backed or VC-backed environment; Are externally credible and comfortable joining customer, supplier, investor and partner meetings; Fluent in English - available to operate from Alkmaar WHAT WE OFFER Opportunity to join a front-runner in the Photonics industry in an autonomous role with responsibility to define, manage and strengthen our financial strategy, governance and transaction readiness; Engage in an entrepreneurial adventure with the chance to influence the performance, funding position and future strategic direction of the company; Awesome high tech environment and highly educated colleagues driving a unique technology; A great diversity in your activities.

Core Responsibilities

Own finance, financial control, and corporate governance, and lead financial strategy, fundraising preparation, shareholder governance, and company secretarial matters. Contribute to company-wide strategy and prepare PhotonFirst for future fundraising, investment, and exit opportunities.

Requirements

Candidates should bring substantial senior finance experience, including financial strategy, funding, scenario modeling, corporate governance, and international VC fundraising. They should also have experience supporting or leading an exit, managing external financial and legal stakeholders, and be commercially minded, digitally savvy, fluent in English, and able to work from Alkmaar.
