Head of Back Office / Senior Assistant Purchase & Sales

About the role

For our site in Almelo, we are looking for an experienced Head of Back Office / Senior Assistant Purchase & Sales to coordinate and support purchasing and sales administration for ferrous and non-ferrous scrap activities. 

Main responsibilities

  • Support ferrous and non-ferrous scrap transactions, ensuring correct material specifications, quantities, prices and commercial conditions.
  • Coordinate the daily activities of the Purchase & Sales Back Office.
  • Implement and follow up procedures & process 
  • Process and follow up purchase and sales orders, contracts and confirmations.
  • Monitor deliveries and contract fulfilment in coordination with Operations and Logistics.
  • Prepare and check invoices, credit notes and commercial documentation.
  • Follow up on discrepancies related to quantities, prices, material quality or documentation.
  • Act as a key interface between internal teams, suppliers and customers.
  • Ensure accurate data in the relevant systems and support commercial reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and standardise back-office processes.
  • Support and coordinate other back-office team members where required.

Your profile

  • Strong knowledge and experience in the ferrous and non-ferrous scrap business would be a major advantage.
  • Several years of experience in commercial administration, purchasing, sales support or back-office operations.
  • Good understanding of scrap materials, material flows and market practices is highly valued.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working with ERP systems and commercial documentation.
  • Proactive, structured and solution-oriented, with strong communication skills.

Languages

  • Dutch & English : fluent
  • German is a plus

Core Responsibilities

The Head of Back Office will coordinate daily purchasing and sales administration for scrap activities while ensuring accurate order processing and contract fulfillment. They will act as a key interface between internal teams, suppliers, and customers to improve back-office processes and commercial reporting.

Requirements

Candidates should have several years of experience in commercial administration or back-office operations, preferably within the scrap industry. Fluency in Dutch and English is required, along with strong organizational skills and proficiency in ERP systems.
