Job Description
Trademark/IP and distribution will be central to your remit, alongside commercial agreements, corporate governance and international expansion. You’ll be hands-on with significant matters, lead a small internal team and use external specialists where they add value.
- Lead our legal strategy. Set priorities, advise leadership on consequential decisions and take responsibility for recommendations through to implementation.
- Own trademark and distribution matters, helping shape trading models.
- Help the business grow. Partner with Commercial, Operations, Product and Finance on new markets, categories, sourcing arrangements and partnerships. Develop legal structures and operating approaches that make these opportunities possible.
- Handle commercial and corporate matters. Structure and negotiate material agreements, oversee governance and support fundraising, equity and other strategic projects.
- Run an effective legal function. Manage external counsel, budgets and specialist advice across jurisdictions. Improve playbooks and AI-assisted workflows so routine work is handled efficiently.
- A legal qualification and substantial in-house experience, typically 10+ years post-qualification. We’re open to candidates with fewer years who demonstrate comparable scope, judgement and impact.
- Strong practical experience in trademark/IP and distribution.
- Strong commercial capability, including structuring, drafting and negotiating agreements and resolving complex business issues.
- Experience owning a legal function or a broad regional or business-unit remit, with direct responsibility for advising senior leaders.
- A track record of developing and implementing legal strategies that enabled growth in a complex international business.
- Working knowledge of corporate governance and confidence coordinating advice on cross-border trade, product/platform regulation, employment and privacy. You’ll know when specialist input is needed and how to turn it into a clear business recommendation.
- A commercially ambitious, practical approach. You can challenge assumptions, explain trade-offs clearly and make a recommendation under uncertainty.
