Purpose And Scope Of Job Responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, and performance of the Gearbox Engineering organization, including Application Engineering, Design Engineering, Backoffice Engineering, Project Management, and Technical Documentation functions. This position ensures all engineering teams operate in alignment with business objectives, providing seamless support to sales, operations, manufacturing, quality, and customers. The Gearbox Engineering Manager drives collaboration across functional groups, establishes performance metrics, monitors departmental effectiveness, and leads continuous improvement initiatives to support growth, operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and profitability. Responsibilities combine leadership of engineering execution, resource planning, process improvement, project oversight, and strategic business support Essential Functions (other Duties May Be Assigned Lead and develop GB Application Engineering, GB Design Engineering, Backoffice Engineering, Project Management, and Technical Documentation organizations to achieve company objectives and customer requirements. Provide leadership, direction, and support to supervisors and team leaders while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and employee development. Establish departmental goals, priorities, and performance expectations aligned with business objectives. Monitor, analyze, and communicate key departmental performance indicators, including workload, project execution, responsiveness, quality, resource utilization, and team performance. Ensure effective coordination and alignment across engineering functions to support customer orders, projects, and business initiatives. Partner closely with Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Product Management, and Sales leadership to support organizational objectives and operational excellence. Oversee departmental capacity planning, resource allocation, and workload prioritization to achieve business commitments. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on engineering processes, efficiency, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction. Ensure compliance with company policies, engineering standards, configuration control requirements, ISO procedures, and documentation practices. Provide regular reporting and business reviews on departmental performance, project status, resource utilization, strategic objectives, and key business metrics. Manage departmental budgets, staffing plans, succession planning, talent development, employee engagement, and performance management activities. Serve as the primary escalation point for technical, operational, resource, and project execution issues impacting customers or business performance. Champion cross-functional communication and collaboration to ensure engineering teams operate as a unified organization supporting company goals. Collaborate with the Director of Engineering and other business leaders to identify opportunities for organizational growth, process optimization, and strategic improvements. Support strategic planning initiatives and organizational objectives while performing other duties as assigned in support of company goals. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) with at least eight (8) years’ experience in the rotating equipment industry. Previous managerial experience required.
