Job Description

Introduction

The Virtual Computing Platform team in Veldhoven develops and maintains the digital software platform that helps customers operate ASML systems reliably and efficiently. As software platforms continue to grow in complexity, testing and qualification activities often require significant manual effort and expert knowledge. During this internship, you will help explore how Artificial Intelligence can make software quality engineering more intelligent, automated, and efficient. You will work on practical AI solutions that support faster issue detection, improved root-cause analysis, and smarter testing decisions. This is a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the future of AI-driven software quality engineering in a large-scale technology environment.

Your assignment

In this internship, you will collaborate with software engineers, test architects, and platform specialists to identify where AI can add the most value across the software testing lifecycle. Rather than focusing on theoretical research, you will build and validate solutions that improve how software quality is assessed and managed. You will help translate business challenges into practical AI applications and demonstrate their impact in a real engineering environment. Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Analyze AI opportunities together with software and test engineers
  • Develop AI-driven prototypes and proof-of-concepts
  • Build AI agents that support software issue assessment and root-cause analysis
  • Evaluate how AI can improve testing, qualification, and automation activities
  • Measure the impact and business value of proposed solutions
  • Present findings, recommendations, and adoption guidance to engineering stakeholders

This is a bachelor/master internship for minimum 5 months, minimum 4 days per week (2 days on-site, but flexible). The start date of this internship is as soon as possible

Your profile

To be suitable for the internship, you:

  • Are pursuing a bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field

  • Have knowledge of machine learning, generative AI, or Large Language Models
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Are proactive, curious, and comfortable working with multidisciplinary teams

Other requirements you need to meet:

  • You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship, and you are at least 18 years old at the start of the internship;

About ASML

Industry: Semiconductor Manufacturing

Company size: 10,001+ employees

Who are we? ASML is an innovation leader in the global semiconductor industry. We make machines that chipmakers use to mass produce microchips. Founded in 1984 in the Netherlands with just a handful of employees, we’ve now grown to over 40,000 employees, 143 nationalities and more than 60 locations around the world. What do we do? We provide chipmakers with hardware, software and services to mass produce patterns on silicon through lithography. Our lithography systems use ultraviolet light to create billions of tiny structures on silicon that together make up a microchip. We push our technology to new limits to enable our customers to create smaller, faster and more powerful chips. Who are our people? While you may think that only engineers and mathematicians work at ASML, you'll be surprised to find out that our people come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Across ASML, we have dedicated teams that manage customer support, communications and media, IT, software development and more. Every team in the company is essential for pushing our technology and the industry forward.
