Whilst this role is part of the EMEA Global Markets organisation, this regional role is based from our office in Dordrecht, The Netherlands. We are looking for an:

 

HS&E Expert - EMEA (m/f)

(Fulltime | 40 hours)

 

As HS&E Expert - EMEA, you provide regional oversight, specialist guidance, coaching and coordination across our EMEA organisation. You connect local HSE Managers and Leads, support the rollout of regional and global initiatives, and help ensure the consistent application of HS&E policies, procedures and standards.

 

This is a regional role with regular travel across EMEA. You report to the SVP Global Markets - EMEA and work closely with the local Managing Directors, HSE professionals and operational leaders. Legal, operational and day-to-day HS&E accountability remains with each local entity and its designated HSE role.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate the EMEA HS&E roadmap, aligned with global and regional priorities, and support its local implementation.
  • Coach local HSE Managers, Leads and operational leaders on HS&E policies, management systems, legislation and safe working practices.
  • Conduct site visits, audits and compliance reviews, supporting local entities during corporate, customer, certification and regulatory audits.
  • Guide local teams on risk assessments, incident investigations, Root Cause Analysis and corrective actions, escalating significant or recurring gaps when required.
  • Strengthen safety culture and local capability through coaching, training, knowledge sharing and collaboration across the EMEA HSE community.
  • Monitor and analyse regional HS&E performance, provide management reporting and drive continuous improvement. Regular travel across EMEA is required.

 

Local management and the designated HSE role remain accountable for legal compliance and day-to-day HS&E management within each entity.

 

Qualifications

  • Recognized professional HSE qualification, such as NEBOSH, IOSH or an equivalent national or international certification;
  • Relevant HSE experience within a complex, international or multi-site matrix organization;
  • Experience in logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, transportation, warehousing or another operational environment;
  • Practical experience with HS&E management systems, risk assessments, audits, incident investigation and Root Cause Analysis;
  • Good command of English, both verbally and in writing; German or another European language is an advantage;
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly across the EMEA region.

  • Communication skills: explains complex legal and technical matters in a clear, practical and audience-appropriate way;
  • Audit and investigation skills: capable of conducting audits, supporting serious-incident investigations and guiding corrective-action follow-up;
  • Cultural and regulatory awareness: works effectively across countries, cultures, languages and regulatory environments;
  • Collaborative approach: connects people, promotes knowledge sharing and supports consistent regional standards while preserving local accountability.

The HS&E Expert will develop and coordinate the EMEA HS&E roadmap while providing specialist guidance and coaching to local HSE managers and operational leaders. They are responsible for conducting audits, monitoring regional performance, and driving continuous improvement in safety culture across the organization.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a recognized professional HSE qualification such as NEBOSH or IOSH and have relevant experience in complex, multi-site operational environments. Strong analytical, communication, and change management skills are required, along with the ability to travel regularly across the EMEA region.
