Currently Europol is looking for Senior Agent – Software Testing. The successful candidate will be mainly responsible for performing day-to-day testing activities in assigned projects by designing and executing test plans/cases that are to be executed in a manual and automated manner that includes structured and exploratory testing, developing/maintaining automated test scripts for regression testing and non-functional testing activities. The successful candidate will be carrying out the following functions and duties: Actively participating as an automation tester during the application development phase of in-house developed and/or outsourced applications; Defining/maintaining test cases and test conditions; Designing/maintaining test scripts for manual and automated testing; Executing various types of tests for solution quality assurance including non-functional testing; Documenting test results and defects; Executing end-to-end test process through various iterations (incl. support for user / operational acceptance testing); Performing any other task assigned by ICT Line Management to assist in dealing with ICT related issues. Key requirements and knowledge: A level of education as described in the vacancy notice published on Europol’s website; Relevant professional experience of preferably three years or more in the field of software test automation Experience in software testing on various test levels including user or operational acceptance testing; Experience with design, code and execution of automated regression tests on web applications based on BDD-tools (for example Specflow/ ReqNRoll/ Cucumber) with browser automation tools (Playwright or Selenium WebDriver) and using a programming language, such as Java / C# (or other .NET languages); Experience with design and execution of regression tests of APIs based on REST /SOAP web services using http client libraries (e.g. RestSharp or RestAssured); Experience with design and execution of non-functional tests covering following test types: • Penetration testing or technical ICT security; • Efficiency testing: performance, load and stress testing); Experience with AI/ML testing capabilities, such as generative AI for test case generation, smart element locators, or self-healing test automation scripts; Experience designing strategies for dynamic test data generation, database seeding/teardown, and service virtualization or API mocking (e.g., WireMock) to run isolated E2E tests. Knowledge of fundamental test process activities and DevOps concepts, (e.g. Continuous Testing) using a combination of experience-based, model-based and specification-based test techniques; Knowledge of how to design and code automated GUI regression tests with BDD tools (for example Specflow/ ReqNRoll/Cucumber) & browser automation tools (Playwright or Selenium WebDriver) and programmed in JAVA / C# (or other .NET languages) running in continuous integration and using a test automation framework; Knowledge of performance and security testing; Knowledge of how to test APIs implemented as REST/SOAP web services in XML/JSON using http client libraries such as RestSharp or RestAssured; Knowledge of test data management, service virtualization, SQL databases and Container technologies (Docker Swarm or Kubernetes); Indicative salary: The basic monthly salary is grade 13 (EUR 4,449.31), grade 14 (EUR 5,034.18) or grade 16 (EUR 6,444.59) - depending on number of years of proven professional experience. Core Responsibilities
Design, maintain, and execute manual and automated test plans, cases, and scripts for applications, including regression, API, end-to-end, and non-functional testing. Document test results and defects, support user and operational acceptance testing, and contribute to application quality assurance throughout development.
Requirements
The role seeks preferably three or more years of relevant software test automation experience, including testing across multiple levels and user or operational acceptance testing. Candidates should have experience with BDD-based browser and API automation, performance and security testing, AI/ML testing capabilities, test data strategies, service virtualization, and DevOps testing practices.
