Publications & Administration Internship (paid) ISOCARP is looking for an enthusiastic and well-organised Publications & Administration Intern to join our international Secretariat in The Hague. Note: This is an in-person role and is only open to applicants currently residing in the Netherlands. The intern will support the Secretariat across a range of activities, including administration, publications, research and the organisation of international events. During the coming internship period, there will be a particular focus on supporting the Women in Planning Congress in Glasgow and preparations for the upcoming ISOCARP World Planning Congress in Wellington, New Zealand. This is a varied role offering the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day work of an international professional organisation and to collaborate with planning professionals, partners and other stakeholders from around the world. Key Responsibilities Publications and Research Supporting the publication of academic papers and other materials on ISOCARP's online platforms. Reaching out to relevant internal and external stakeholders to collect materials for publications. Supporting the curation, editing and formatting of publications and other content. Maintaining databases and archives of publications, research and related materials. Carrying out research on a broad range of topics in support of ISOCARP's activities and projects. Administration and Coordination Supporting the Secretariat with general administrative and organisational tasks. Participating in meetings, preparing minutes and supporting follow-up on agreed actions. Creating, organising and updating internal organisational content and documentation. Coordinating with colleagues to ensure the timely delivery of materials and activities. Communicating with ISOCARP members, partners and other international stakeholders. Providing general support to the Secretariat and its ongoing projects as needed. Other opportunitites: Events and Congress Support Supporting preparations for ISOCARP congresses, events and webinars, with a particular focus on the Women in Planning Congress in Glasgow and the World Planning Congress in Wellington. Assisting with participant, speaker and stakeholder communication and coordination. Supporting the preparation and organisation of programmes, meeting materials and other event-related documentation. Who We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who: Is currently enrolled in an academic programme. Preferably has a background in Urban or Regional Planning, International Relations, Development Studies, Communications, or a related field. Has an interest in sustainable development, cities and urban and regional planning. Is organised, accurate and comfortable managing several tasks at the same time. Has strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Is comfortable communicating and working with people from different countries and cultural backgrounds. Is proactive, flexible and willing to contribute to different types of work within a small international team. Is confident working with standard digital office and collaboration tools. Has previous experience with publications, communications, research, administration or event organisation; this is an advantage but not a requirement. What We Offer The internship provides an opportunity to gain practical experience within an international professional organisation and to work closely with a global network of city and regional planners. You will gain experience in areas including international event organisation, publications, stakeholder communication, research and the day-to-day operation of an international membership organisation. The intern will work as part of the ISOCARP Secretariat in The Hague and will have the opportunity to contribute directly to activities with an international reach. Practical Information Starting date: preferably Mid October / early November 2026 Duration: minimum six months, with the possibility of extension Working hours: 30 hours per week, distributed over a minimum of four days Location: ISOCARP Secretariat, The Hague Working arrangement: in person Compensation The intern will receive an internship stipend of €500 per month. ISOCARP can also reimburse the cost of the most economical second-class public transport between the intern's place of residence and the workplace in The Hague. Requirements
Applicants must be currently enrolled in an academic programme and have an interest in sustainable development, cities, and urban or regional planning; a related academic background is preferred. Candidates should be organized, accurate, proactive, flexible, comfortable with digital office tools, and have strong English communication skills; relevant experience is an advantage but not required.
