Get explosion bonded clad approved where the decision is made. Fabricators buy our clad plate, but an owner or EPC materials engineer decides which manufacturers a project may use and which cladding process the specification allows. Shockwave is hiring the person who wins that decision: a place on the approved vendor lists of end users and EPC contractors, and explosion bonded clad accepted in their specifications. About Shockwave Shockwave Metalworking Technologies manufactures explosion bonded clad plates and bimetallic transition joints for pressure vessels, heat exchangers and process equipment in the petrochemical, cryogenic, marine and industrial gas industries. We supply fabricators and EPC contractors worldwide from Schijf, the Netherlands. What you will do Build and own the approval roadmap: which end users, licensors and EPC contractors matter per market, in what order, and who decides Run prequalification from first contact to listing: vendor registration, technical dossiers, test programmes and plant audits in Schijf Make the technical case for explosion bonded clad against roll bonded clad and weld overlay with materials, corrosion, welding and static equipment engineers Review owner and EPC clad specifications and propose defensible wording where explosion bonding is excluded or disadvantaged Obtain engineering approval for our cryogenic transition joints at the industrial gas companies Track projects from FEED onwards so Shockwave is on the vendor list before the fabricator inquiry goes out Present at EPC and end user offices, exhibitions and conferences What you bring Degree in materials science, metallurgy, welding or mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience At least five years in pressure equipment, clad or corrosion resistant alloy products, heat exchangers or process plant materials Experience on one side of the approval table: as a materials, static equipment or vendor quality engineer at an EPC contractor or operator, or as the person who obtained approvals for a manufacturer An existing network among the engineers and vendor quality teams who decide Working knowledge of ASME Section II and VIII, EN 13445 and PED, EN 10204, NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 and owner specifications for clad material Fluent English and willingness to travel internationally What we offer A senior role with direct impact: every approval you obtain opens a market that was closed to us A direct line to the CEO, short decisions and the freedom to build the approval function your way A specialised technology and a long-term growth ambition Apply Apply through LinkedIn or send your CV to [email protected].
Core Responsibilities
Develop and lead the approval roadmap for end users, licensors, and EPC contractors, securing approved vendor listings and acceptance of explosion bonded clad in project specifications. Manage prequalification, make the technical case for the company’s products, pursue engineering approval for cryogenic transition joints, and track projects from FEED through procurement.
Requirements
Requires a degree in materials science, metallurgy, welding, or mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience, and at least five years in a relevant pressure equipment, clad, corrosion-resistant alloy, heat exchanger, or process plant materials field. Candidates should have experience obtaining or making vendor approvals, an established industry network, working knowledge of relevant codes and standards, fluent English, and willingness to travel internationally.
