Work Across the Full Hatchery Process At The Kingfish Company, our hatchery is where production begins. As a Hatchery Assistant I, you will play a key role in the early life cycle of our Yellowtail Kingfish. You will perform hands-on work across broodstock care, egg handling, live feed production, and juvenile fish rearing. This is a practical and varied position, ideal for someone who enjoys working with living systems, values teamwork, and pays close attention to detail. What You’ll Do Feed and care for broodstock Perform egg collection and disinfection Culture live feed (Artemia) Support larval and juvenile fish production Carry out grading, movement, and handling of fish Clean and prepare tanks, rooms, and equipment Maintain strict hygiene and biosecurity standards Record production data (egg counts, fish numbers, water parameters) Observe and report fish health and performance Assist supervisors with daily hatchery operations Who You Are Affinity with animals, aquaculture, or biology Hands-on, practical, and detail-oriented Strong sense of responsibility for hygiene and quality Team player who supports colleagues Eager to learn and develop new skills Able to follow procedures and work under supervision Basic understanding of English and/or Dutch Experience not required - motivation is key Willing to work occasional weekends What We Offer A varied role across the full hatchery process Hands-on experience in a modern aquaculture facility Training and development opportunities Supportive, team-oriented work environment Stable position in a growing sustainable industry About The Kingfish Company The Kingfish Company is a leader in sustainable land-based aquaculture, specializing in premium Yellowtail Kingfish. Core Responsibilities
Care for broodstock and support egg handling, live feed culture, and larval and juvenile fish production. Handle and grade fish, maintain clean and biosecure facilities, record production data, monitor fish health, and assist with daily hatchery operations.
Requirements
Candidates should have an affinity for animals, aquaculture, or biology and be practical, detail-oriented, responsible, and supportive team members. Experience is not required; applicants should be willing to learn, follow procedures under supervision, understand basic English and/or Dutch, and work occasional weekends.
