Job Description

Do you get energy from meeting new people, spotting opportunities and turning a first conversation into something bigger? And do you enjoy a role where you really have to go after results? Then we are looking for you. World Forum The Hague is looking for a Business Development Manager Corporate Events to help further grow our corporate market. You connect easily with people, enjoy getting to know new organisations and get excited about commercial opportunities. You take initiative, think ahead and enjoy opening doors that do not open by themselves. Winning new business does not always happen automatically. It takes curiosity, persistence and the energy to create opportunities yourself. Not every first contact immediately becomes a client, and that challenge should be something you enjoy. You research interesting organisations, reach out proactively and identify where opportunities exist for World Forum. You will work with both Dutch and international clients. What will you do? As Business Development Manager Corporate Events, you focus on attracting and developing new corporate clients. You actively build your own network and pipeline and continuously look for organisations and events that are a good fit for World Forum. You take the time to understand potential clients and what is happening within their organisation. Why are they organising an event? What do they want to achieve? And where can World Forum add value? You proactively make new connections through phone contact, outreach, networking events, trade fairs and your own network. Sometimes an opportunity starts with an existing lead, but often you are the person making the first move. You work with both Dutch and international clients and build relationships that go beyond a single enquiry. In this role, you will: create and develop new commercial opportunities; actively build your own network and client portfolio; listen carefully, ask the right questions and translate client needs into suitable opportunities; discuss commercial proposals and agreements with clients; represent World Forum during client visits, networking events and trade fairs in the Netherlands and abroad. You will work closely with colleagues from Sales, Marketing and Operations. After all, you are selling more than just a venue: you connect a client’s needs with everything World Forum has to offer as a location and organisation. Who are we looking for? You already have several years of commercial experience and are ready for your next step. You enjoy taking responsibility for your own results, while remaining curious and eager to continue developing yourself. You are someone who approaches people easily and gets energy from making new connections. You do not wait for opportunities to come to you; you look for possibilities and take action. If something does not work straight away, you look for what could work instead. We are looking for someone who: has higher professional education (HBO) level of working and thinking, or equivalent; has approximately 2 to 5 years of relevant commercial experience; has a strong commercial mindset and builds new relationships easily; is a good listener, asks the right questions and knows how to build trust; thinks critically, creatively and in solutions; communicates professionally in English. You do not need to have seen or done everything yet. What matters most to us is that you take initiative, are curious and are motivated to further develop yourself within business development. Experience in events, hospitality or another commercial B2B environment is an advantage, but not an absolute requirement. Why is this role interesting? No two weeks are the same. One day you are researching organisations that could be interesting for World Forum and making new connections. The next, you are meeting a potential client, working on a proposal or meeting new people at a networking event or trade fair. Because World Forum is an international conference and events venue, your client may be based in the Netherlands or abroad. This creates a broad market and means you will work with a wide range of organisations, people and commercial questions. You will have plenty of room to bring in your own ideas and explore new opportunities. If you come across an organisation and think, they should be at World Forum, you will have the freedom to find out how to get in front of them. About the team You will join a committed commercial team with a mix of expertise and experience levels. We work closely together, share information and help each other move opportunities forward. At the same time, you will have plenty of freedom to work independently, build your own relationships and further develop your own market. What do we offer? At World Forum, you will have the opportunity to further develop yourself commercially while taking direct responsibility within the corporate market. You can expect: a gross monthly salary between €3.000 and €4,000 based on a 40-hour working week, depending on knowledge and experience; a performance-based bonus scheme; 30 days of annual leave based on full-time employment; an annual development budget; travel allowance, including when you commute by bicycle; employee benefits such as lunches and discounts on performances. You will also work in a dynamic and international environment at a distinctive location between the city and the beach, right in The Hague. About World Forum The Hague World Forum The Hague is an international conference and events venue in The Hague. With more than 50 years of experience, we host business events and conferences for organisations from the Netherlands and abroad. As part of GL events, we are part of an international network of event venues. This international character is reflected in our events, our clients and the people you will work with in this role. Do you see opportunities, get energy from making new connections and like the idea of bringing new organisations to World Forum? We would love to meet you. Send you motivation and CV to [email protected]. World Forum The Hague zoekt een Business Development Manager Corporate Events die onze corporate markt verder helpt uitbouwen. Over World Forum The Hague World Forum The Hague is een internationale congres- en evenementenlocatie in Den Haag.
