In this Research Scientist role, you'll join a multidisciplinary R&D team developing fluorescence-based optical sensors. You'll explore new materials and chemical approaches to improve sensor performance, translating scientific ideas into practical applications. Through hands-on laboratory research, you'll investigate dye immobilization, surface functionalization and polymer chemistry. You'll work closely with scientists and sensor engineers while collaborating with external research partners and supporting MSc and PhD students. What you'll be doing as a Research Scientist: Develop and optimize materials for fluorescent sensors Design and conduct laboratory experiments Analyze data and document research findings Investigate dye immobilization techniques Explore surface functionalization methods Research polymer and hydrogel chemistries Characterize materials using analytical techniques Evaluate sensor concepts and performance Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams Support MSc and PhD research activities Contribute to project planning and reporting What you need to be successful as a Research Scientist: Master's or PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science or a related field Know organic and inorganic materials chemistry Hands-on experience in laboratory research Experience working in multidisciplinary R&D teams Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Good communication and collaboration skills Practical, solution-oriented approach to research Experience in one or more of these areas is a plus: Optical sensing or fluorescence-based technologies Fluorescence or UV-Vis spectroscopy Fluorescence or confocal microscopy Polymer science, hydrogels or biomaterials Surface functionalization or dye immobilization Student supervision or research coordination Why join us? Core Responsibilities

Develop and optimize materials for fluorescence-based optical sensors through laboratory experiments involving dye immobilization, surface functionalization, and polymer or hydrogel chemistry. Characterize materials, analyze and document findings, evaluate sensor performance, collaborate with research teams and external partners, and support MSc and PhD students.

Requirements

A Master's or PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field is required, along with knowledge of organic and inorganic materials chemistry and hands-on laboratory research experience. Candidates should have strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills; experience in optical sensing, spectroscopy, microscopy, polymers, hydrogels, biomaterials, surface functionalization, or student supervision is an advantage.
