Job Description
About SkyGeo
At SkyGeo, we use satellite radar data to help organisations understand ground and structural movement and make better decisions about their assets. Our InSAR technology is applied worldwide across civil engineering, energy, mining and other industries. To keep getting better at providing these insights at scale, we need the best people working with us. We are looking for colleagues who want to help build the business and to grow professionally by discovering a wide range of applications.
Your Role & Impact
We are looking for a senior technical authority with substantial hands-on InSAR expertise. As Lead InSAR Engineer, you will take a leading technical role in complex projects and in the continued development of our processing capabilities. You understand the full InSAR processing chain, independently investigate challenging datasets and processing issues, and determine the right technical approach for different applications. You will be a key technical reference for colleagues across SkyGeo. The position is based in Delft, the Netherlands.
Your main responsibilities
You will work with our customers to find new ways to implement and integrate our data into geotechnical engineering practices. Your focus will be on:
· Take technical ownership of complex InSAR processing and analysis.
· Process, model, analyse and visualise SAR/InSAR data.
· Determine processing strategies for different datasets, environments and applications.
· Identify, investigate and resolve complex processing and data-quality issues.
· Contribute to improving SkyGeo’s InSAR algorithms and processing capabilities.
· Provide expert technical input to customer projects and complex questions.
· Review technical work and maintain high standards of InSAR quality.
· Coach InSAR engineers and analysts and collaborate across Engineering, Consulting and Commercial teams.
What we’re looking for
This is not an entry-level position. We need an established InSAR specialist who can independently solve technically challenging problems.
· A PhD in remote sensing, geodesy, radar interferometry, geophysics, signal processing, engineering or a closely related field (mandatory).
· Substantial hands-on SAR/InSAR processing and analysis experience, in research and/or industry.
· Deep understanding of the advanced SAR/InSAR processing chain.
· Strong practical knowledge of DInSAR, PSI and/or SBAS approaches.
· Experience with coregistration, interferogram generation, phase unwrapping, atmospheric effects, time-series analysis and quality assessment.
· Ability to diagnose complex processing problems and critically evaluate technical solutions.
· Experience with different SAR sensors, acquisition geometries and datasets.
· Strong scientific, quantitative and analytical skills.
· Experience with GIS environments such as QGIS or ArcGIS.
· Ability to communicate complex technical subjects clearly across disciplines.
Experience with Python/software development, GNSS or surveying data, other remote-sensing techniques, or customer-facing technical projects is an advantage.
What's in it for you?
Work at the technical core of SkyGeo’s InSAR technology, applying advanced remote sensing to real-world problems in mining, energy and civil engineering. Join an international team, take significant technical ownership and help shape the continued development of InSAR at scale. This also means:
A job that matters in a dynamic environment with a scale-up approach.
An independent role with a supportive and diverse work environment.
An international and ambitious team (10+ nationalities).
A lot of freedom for initiative, personal & career growth.
Core Responsibilities
You will take technical ownership of complex InSAR processing and analysis while collaborating with customers to integrate data into geotechnical engineering practices. Additionally, you will coach InSAR engineers and contribute to the development of SkyGeo's processing algorithms and capabilities.
Requirements
A PhD in remote sensing, geodesy, or a related field is mandatory for this senior role. Candidates must possess substantial hands-on experience with the advanced SAR/InSAR processing chain and the ability to independently solve complex technical problems.
Benefits
- Professional growth
- Career development
- International work environment
- Supportive work environment
About SkyGeo
Industry: Civil Engineering
Company size: 11-50 employees
SkyGeo helps organizations understand what has changed, why it matters, and what to do next. We provide decision-grade ground-motion monitoring for companies and authorities managing critical assets in Mining, Energy and Civil infrastructure. Our work is not about delivering data. It is about supporting risk-based decisions: defining tolerance thresholds, detecting change early, and providing defensible evidence when action — or inaction — must be justified. SkyGeo works backwards from business outcomes such as operational continuity, regulatory compliance and asset integrity. Monitoring programmes are designed around cadence, escalation paths and reporting that fit real operational and governance needs. We support long-term monitoring at scale, where consistency, accountability and trust matter as much as technical accuracy. SkyGeo operates globally, supporting organisations across Europe, North America, South America, Australia and Africa.
