Overall objectives of Legal Specialist @FSSC The Legal Specialist provides independent and risk-based legal advice to FSSC. The role supports sound decision-making, effective governance and the protection of FSSC’s interests, products and services, intellectual property and stakeholder relationships. The Legal Specialist proactively identifies, assesses and monitors legal and compliance risks, supports risk owners in defining mitigation measures, and coordinates with external advisors in case specialized knowledge is required. The role translates legal and regulatory developments into pragmatic business solutions that enable FSSC to achieve its strategic objectives while maintaining legal integrity and compliance. KEY RESULT AREAS Provide independent practical legal advice to the Executive Board, Management Team and other internal stakeholders. Review documents, decisions and organizational initiatives for legal and compliance implications. Draw, review and negotiate commercial, supplier, partnership, licensing and other agreements and advises agreement owners on legal risks, obligations and potential issues. Support the protection of FSSC’s intellectual property. Identify, assess, document and monitor legal and compliance risks. Manage legal claims, disputes and other legal matters. Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments, assess the impact and translate them into practical recommendations for FSSC. Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge Requirements Master’s degree in law, preferably with a qualification in Dutch or EU law. Around 5 years of experience as a Legal Specialist. Experience with Dutch Law (employment law, other), EU laws & regulations, Intellectual property law, Contract and commercial law & Governance policies. Preferred Experience in certification, accreditation, standards, assurance or another regulated ecosystem. Working knowledge of GDPR and Information Security regulations. Professional proficiency in Dutch. Core Responsibilities
Provide independent, practical legal advice to FSSC leadership and internal stakeholders, and review organizational decisions and initiatives for legal and compliance implications. Draft, review, and negotiate agreements; protect intellectual property; monitor and mitigate legal risks; manage claims and disputes; and translate regulatory developments into practical recommendations.
Requirements
A master's degree in law, preferably with a qualification in Dutch or EU law, and around five years of experience as a Legal Specialist are required. Experience in Dutch and EU law, intellectual property, contracts, commercial law, and governance is expected; working knowledge of GDPR and information security regulations and professional proficiency in Dutch are also specified.
