Hours: Fulltime, 40 hours Location: Rotterdam, The Netherlands The Position As a Sustainability Analyst, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with (inter)national legislation regarding the incorporation of renewable fuels into mineral oils, and to facilitate optimal commercial decision-making in terms of mass balance allocations of biofuels. You will work closely with Traders, the Sustainability Assurance team and other departments to maintain accurate biofuel administrations and ensure timely submission of documentation to customers and reports to relevant national authorities. The primary focus of your role includes the allocation of sustainability credentials to physical flows of biofuels that may have a various applications and destinations across different geographies. Verifying the relevant documentation of biofuel deliveries and contributing to the improvement of internal processes is also part of the job. You will join an experienced team of Sustainability analysts and report to the Trade Support Manager. The team is situated in the VAROPreem office in Rotterdam Netherlands. Your Key Responsibilities Compile internal reports on biofuel flows within VAROPreem’s network; Ensure timely submission of sustainability documentation for clients; Cooperate with suppliers to ensure compliance with biofuel administration requirements; Support the submission of biofuel reports to national authorities; Monitor relevant data, systems and processes and suggest improvements; Signal risks related to transactions and recommend necessary internal controls. Your Profile A Master’s degree in Business Economics, Accounting & Controlling, Sustainability, Finance, or a related field is considered an advantage; Experience with reporting is preferred, while familiarity with legal or regulatory frameworks and/or commodity markets is a plus; Excellent command of English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Dutch, German, or French is beneficial; Affinity with ERP systems and the ability to work confidently with digital tools; A responsible, reliable, and detail-oriented approach, with a strong focus on accuracy and quality; A collaborative team player who enjoys working with colleagues across different functions; Proactive, results-driven, and eager to take ownership of tasks and responsibilities; Motivated to continuously learn, develop new skills, and grow within the field of sustainability assurance; Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders; A critical and analytical mindset, combined with a genuine drive for continuous improvement and creating added value. Core Responsibilities
Compile reports on biofuel flows, allocate sustainability credentials to physical biofuel flows, and ensure accurate administration and timely sustainability documentation for clients. Support regulatory reporting, verify delivery documentation, coordinate with suppliers and internal teams, monitor processes, and identify transaction risks and improvements.
Requirements
A master’s degree in business economics, accounting and controlling, sustainability, finance, or a related field is advantageous; reporting experience is preferred, while regulatory or commodity-market familiarity is a plus. Candidates should have excellent written and spoken English, confidence with ERP systems and digital tools, and a reliable, detail-oriented, analytical, collaborative, and proactive approach.
