Job Description
Are you an accurate and enthusiastic research technician who enjoys working with human biological samples? Join our biobank team and contribute to cutting-edge research into metabolic syndrome and chronic disease prevention. About The Project Within the department of Molecular Cell Biology & Immunology at Amsterdam UMC, location VUmc, we are looking for a research technician to support biobanking activities and research within the recently awarded NWA-ORC project Decoding immune-metabolic homeostasis to better understand chronic diseases (META-IMMUNOTYPES (https://www.amsterdamumc.org/en/research/institutes/amsterdam-institute-for-immunology-and-infectious-diseases/news/nwo-invests-6.8-million-in-meta-immunotypes-consortium-led-by-dr.-garcia-vallejo.htm)). Metabolic syndrome is a major health problem, affecting up to 40% of the population. It increases the risk of developing chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity and cancer. The META-IMMUNOTYPES consortium studies the complex interaction between the immune system and metabolism in metabolic syndrome and related conditions. By identifying early warning signals, such as hidden inflammation, through simple blood tests and advanced technology, the project aims to shift the focus from treatment to prevention. This could enable lifestyle interventions before symptoms arise. About The Role As a research technician, you play a central role in the day-to-day management of our biobank.
