THE TEAM
As part of our Finance team, you will contribute to the financial success of the hotel by maintaining accurate financial records, supporting financial reporting processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies. Working closely with operational departments, Finance colleagues, suppliers, auditors, and external authorities, you will support a broad range of accounting activities that help drive informed decision-making and operational excellence.
Reporting to the Director of Finance Business Partner, you will play an important role in ensuring the integrity of the hotel's financial records, supporting statutory compliance requirements, and contributing to accurate and timely financial reporting.
YOUR ROLE
As a General Accountant, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the hotel, ensuring financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner. Through your analytical mindset, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills, you will support general accounting activities, accounts payable processes, tax compliance obligations, and month-end closing procedures.
You will play a key role in maintaining the accuracy of financial information, ensuring compliance with Dutch accounting and tax requirements, and supporting the achievement of the hotel's business objectives.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE THE PLACE
- Maintain the daily general accounting records of the hotel.
- Manage cash and bank accounts and perform regular reconciliations.
- Record and monitor fixed assets and asset-related transactions.
- Monitor and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Review, code, and process supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
- Support accounts payable activities and payment processing cycles.
- Monitor accruals, aged balances, and prepare accounting adjustments where required.
- Ensure accurate allocation of accounting transactions to cost and profit centres.
- Prepare and post journal entries in a timely manner.
- Support monthly and year-end financial closing activities.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports, schedules, analyses, and supporting documentation.
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns and support local tax filing requirements.
- Collaborate with tax authorities, auditors, suppliers, and other external stakeholders when required.
- Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring documentation is complete and readily available.
- Maintain compliance with accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and statutory requirements.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and financial controls.
COULD THIS BE YOU?
- You have a minimum of three years' experience in general accounting, gained within hospitality, luxury service industries, or a public accounting environment.
- You possess strong knowledge of Dutch accounting principles, tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
- You are highly analytical, detail-oriented, and enjoy working with accuracy and precision.
- You have excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and are comfortable working with accounting and finance systems.
- You have experience preparing reconciliations, financial reports, journal entries, and month-end close activities.
- You communicate professionally, build positive relationships, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across the business.
- You demonstrate a high level of integrity, accountability, discretion, and confidentiality.
- You are fluent in Dutch and possess professional proficiency in English.
- You have a genuine interest in luxury hospitality and delivering excellence behind the scenes.

Core Responsibilities
The General Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate daily financial records, managing accounts payable, and performing bank reconciliations. They also support month-end closing procedures, tax filings, and ensure compliance with internal controls and statutory requirements.
Requirements
Candidates must have at least three years of experience in general accounting, preferably within the hospitality or public accounting sectors. Proficiency in Dutch accounting principles and tax regulations, along with strong analytical and organizational skills, is required.
