Job Description

Location: Delft Hours: 32–40 per week Education Level: Master’s degree (WO)

Are you a senior experimental physicist with a strong focus on new opto-mechatronic product development, contributing directly to high-impact applications in e.g. semiconductor manufacturing and astronomy? What you will do

As a Senior New Product Researcher, you work at the forefront of our product development, inventing and proving new measurement techniques for the Development & Engineering department to incorporate in new products. You work in a multidisciplinary environment where software, physics, and mechatronics come together.

Your key responsibilities:

●    Follow state-of-the-art developments worldwide relevant to optics metrology (form, mid-spatials, roughness, defects, coatings etc.)

●    Thorough multi-disciplinary understanding of opto-mechatronic possibilities to translate customer needs into robust new measurement principles

●    Perform feasibility testing by building lab setups incl the necessary software and data-processing, to prove viability and mitigate the dominant project risks

●    Provide a smooth transfer of the knowledge to the D&E department

●    Strengthen the QED IP position with patent applications

What you bring

You are a pragmatic and structured Researcher who enjoys working in a multidisciplinary, hands-on environment. You communicate clearly, collaborate easily, and like to see your work come to life in real machines.

Your profile includes:

●    Preferably PhD degree in Optics, Physics or a related engineering field

●    5-10 years of experience in the opto-mechatronics domain

●    Understanding of precision engineering in the nanometer regime

●    Creative innovator with clear focus on providing value for our customers

●    Hands-on experience with setting up and executing experiments

●    Experience with the necessary software tools (e.g. Python, Matlab, Zemax, CAD)

●    Excellent command of English (spoken and written)

●    In the possession of a European work permit
