Duties
This position requires someone who loves to solve problems, is keen to learn, and self-motivated to research and find solutions. We don’t expect you to know everything but do expect you to be willing and able to dive in and see what you can learn and figure out yourself.
You’ll need to be able to handle periods of higher pressure with a stream of high-priority tasks to support election processes, as well as slower paced periods where improvements and research and development can be completed. A keen eye for detail is essential, and as well as skills in helpdesk and systems administration, you’ll need to have a good handle on Excel. Any experience with scripting and programming languages could be beneficial.
Communication, collaboration, and organisation are big factors in succeeding in our team. Elections can be fast paced with tasks involving both sensitive data and detailed procedures, alongside strict deadlines. All team members need to work together, follow procedures carefully, and document tasks accordingly for an election to succeed.
Primary duties include:
- Contribute to ICT related help desk services for head-office and election offices across both Windows and MacOS environments.
- Configure user accounts and access rights within Active Directory, Office 365, and other systems.
- Undertake testing and installation of operating system and software patches within required timeframes and contribute to the regular monitoring of ICT system security.
- Contribute to junior systems administration tasks and provide assistance to other TEC ICT staff for more complex tasks and projects.
- Undertake the physical set up, pack down, and maintenance, of workstations and other ICT equipment for the TEC office, temporary offices, polling places, and electoral processes.
- Undertake the secure provisioning of electoral roll data to Members of Parliament and organisations each quarter in collaboration with the TEC Administration and Policy teams.
- Follow precise instructions and procedures for all tasks to ensure they are undertaken in the correct manner according to legislation and TEC policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records for processes, systems, and assets.

Core Responsibilities
