Your Mission As Team Lead – Industrialization & Configuration Engineering, you will lead a blended team of internal HCME engineers and external engineering partners responsible for the industrialization, configuration, and release governance of HCME’s customization options for construction machinery. Together with your team, you will transform released designs from Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical, and Systems engineering into production-ready packages—registered in Clepes, synchronized with SAP, and fully documented—so every option is buildable, traceable, and serviceable across Europe. In this role, you combine people leadership with hands-on configuration expertise: you develop your internal team, steer the deliverables of external partners, and act as the final governance owner who confirms every customization option is complete, compliant, and ready for release. What You’ll Be Doing Lead, coach, and develop a team of internal HCME engineers responsible for the industrialization and configuration of European customization options Steer external engineering partners by defining clear scope, deliverables, timelines, and quality expectations, and by reviewing and accepting their output Plan and balance workload across internal and external resources, ensuring the right capacity and expertise are available for each customization project Safeguard consistent standards, ways of working, and knowledge transfer so that external contributions follow HCME processes and knowledge stays within the organization Oversee registration, revision control, and configuration traceability of customization designs in Clepes, ensuring release status is always accurate and current Steer BoM registry, BCF option configuration logic, and SAP material master and BoM synchronization between engineering systems and the ERP landscape Own documentation for customization options, including service manuals, operator manuals, and the Technical Construction File (TCF) Track milestones, gate readiness, and design review actions, escalating delays or open issues with Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical, and Systems teams Coordinate quality evidence, CAD data governance, assembly drawing packages for Production Engineering, and ISF parts catalogue content for aftersales Own CE conformity and EU compliance documentation, track risk assessment closure, and approve release readiness across all disciplines What You Bring Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field Several years of experience in industrialization, configuration management, or PLM/PDM roles, preferably in construction machinery, automotive, or heavy equipment manufacturing Proven experience leading engineering teams, including hands-on coaching and development of team members Experience working with external engineering service providers or consultants: defining scope, managing deliverables and quality, and securing knowledge retention Strong understanding of configuration control, BoM structures, and release/revision management, ideally with PLM tools such as Clepes, Windchill, or Teamcenter Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems for material master and BoM registration and synchronization Familiarity with CE conformity, EU compliance requirements, and technical documentation such as TCFs, manuals, and risk assessments Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal Structured, proactive leadership style with strong ownership and excellent stakeholder management skills Genuine interest in Hitachi products and construction machinery, with the ability to work in an international matrix organization across Europe and Japan What We Offer Compensation built of a yearly gross salary between 72000 euros and 105000 euros (including holiday allowance and based on experience) 27 days of leave + 13 extra collective days of leave (ADV) ‘Metalektro’ Collective Labour Agreement (CLA) Excellent pension scheme with a high employer contribution Working from home possibility and flexible working hours Budget of 1500 euro’s to set up your workplace Collective accident insurance International learning and development program Career opportunities Ready to Apply? Core Responsibilities
Lead and develop internal engineers while managing external engineering partners responsible for industrializing and configuring customization options. Govern configuration data, BoMs, documentation, compliance evidence, and cross-system releases to ensure options are production-ready, traceable, and serviceable.
Requirements
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, industrial design, or a related field is required, along with several years of relevant industrialization, configuration management, or PLM/PDM experience. Candidates should have engineering team leadership experience, partner-management skills, knowledge of configuration and BoM control, working knowledge of SAP or a similar ERP, and familiarity with CE compliance and technical documentation.
