Job Description

A Snapshot of Your Day The Apprentice Supervisory Lead is responsible for the line management, planning, deployment and development of apprentice wind turbine technicians across operational sites. The role ensures apprentices are safely deployed, well supported, appropriately trained and actively engaged throughout their apprenticeship journey. Working closely with operations, schools, training providers, HR, Talent Acquisition and finance, the role supports the delivery and continuous improvement of the apprenticeship program while helping build a strong future technician pipeline. How You’ll Make an Impact 1. Apprentice Line Management and Development Provide line management support to apprentice technicians, including personal development, performance management and regular one-to-one conversations. Maintain proactive two-way communication with a remote apprentice team to ensure apprentices are informed, engaged and supported. Support apprentice wellbeing, development and performance by identifying issues early and taking appropriate action where required. Support new members of the Apprentice Supervisory Lead team as they transition into the role. 2. Operational Deployment and Resource Planning Plan and coordinate the deployment of apprentice wind turbine technicians to operational sites. Work closely with operations to ensure apprentice resource is deployed to the right locations within agreed timeframes. Monitor and respond to changes in operational resource requirements, ensuring deployment plans remain accurate and effective. Maintain regular engagement with operational sites to understand their needs and deliver a high-quality service. 3. Safety, Competence and Training Promote the #Zeroharm safety culture across the apprentice team and drive positive safety performance. Ensure apprentice technicians have the required competencies, training and readiness to work safely on their home wind farms. Identify and implement upskill or cross-skill plans where additional competence is required. Monitor apprentice performance with operational sites and address any concerns or gaps where necessary. 4. Stakeholder, Site and Education Partnerships Build and maintain productive relationships with operational sites, schools, training providers and other key stakeholders. Maintain a regular presence on operational sites and in school to strengthen relationships with apprentices, site teams and education partners. Work with schools and training providers to align education material and learning programmes with industry needs. Promote Wind Technician careers through schools, careers events, site visits and industry partnerships, helping to build the future technician pipeline. Explore opportunities to bring education closer to the workplace, including site-based training with support from local teachers where appropriate. Represent Siemens Energy Wind in relevant educational and industry groups, including NedZero and local or regional workgroups focused on practical technical careers. 5. Programme Improvement, Recruitment and Workforce Planning Support the Apprenticeship Programme Manager in implementing agreed improvements to the apprenticeship programme. Lead and support the annual apprentice recruitment cycle, working with HR and Talent Acquisition to forecast intake requirements, attract suitable candidates and ensure recruitment plans align with future workforce demand. Contribute to longer-term workforce strategy, ensuring apprentice headcount and competence planning supports future technician demand. Identify opportunities to expand the apprentice programme into other roles where there is future workforce demand. Work closely with HR and Talent Acquisition to improve recruitment strategy, workforce planning and attraction of future talent. Support Site Managers with technician development, competence growth and training plans for existing technicians. Help create development opportunities for current technicians to support retention and career growth within Siemens Energy. 6. Administration, Budget and Business Management Ensure technician administrative tasks are completed correctly, consistently and within agreed timelines. Manage responsibility for the relevant cost centre budget and inform the Apprenticeship Programme Manager of any significant changes. Work with finance on cost-saving measures initiated by either the Apprentice Supervisory Lead or the finance team. Attend meetings on behalf of the manager when acting as delegate. Expected Outcomes Apprentice technicians are safely and effectively deployed to operational sites. Apprentices receive consistent line management, communication and development support. Operational sites have access to apprentice resource with the right competence and readiness. The annual apprentice recruitment cycle supports intake requirements and future workforce demand. The apprenticeship programme continues to improve based on business, apprentice and stakeholder needs. Siemens Energy strengthens its future technician pipeline and supports retention through clear development opportunities. What You Bring Experience in apprentice, technician, operational or people-management environments. Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and support a remote team. Ability to build productive relationships with operational, education and business stakeholders. Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate people, priorities and changing operational needs. Good understanding of safety culture, competence development and technical training requirements. Ability to monitor performance, identify issues and take practical action to resolve them. Financial awareness and ability to support budget and cost-control activity. Commitment to continuous improvement, apprentice development and future workforce planning. Language skills: english and dutch The role requires regular visits to operational sites, schools and training providers; therefore, significant travel is expected.
