Telespazio Belgium has an on‑site service at ESTEC in the Netherlands, and we are looking for a highly skilled Telecommunication System Engineer to work there. Candidates must be eligible for a security personal clearance from an EU Member State national security administration What is expected from you: Support ESA in the activities of satellite telecommunication system analysis and simulation The activities include: Assistance in preparation of invitation to tenders related to ESA R&D. Support the management of industrial R&D activities in the areas of system design, analysis and simulations Support internal hands-on technical analysis on subjects related to future SATCOM systems Support the preparation of the section R&D technology roadmaps in the area of satellite telecom network protocols, architectures and systems Support ESA-wide projects in the area of telecommunication systems and technologies What you offer : Master's degree / PhD (preferable) in Telecommunication or Electrical engineering Good background on satellite communication system and technologies, particularly in the areas of maritime and aeronautical services Experience in satellite system and network simulations Good knowledge of the 3GPP 5G protocol Knowledge of the following is considered an asset: Aeronautical Satcom systems and/or Maritime Satcom systems and/or Tactical satcom systems with knowledge on related Standards, i.e. SAPIENT, Asterix, Link-16, EPW At least 2 years of relevant work experience in the field of SATCOM Knowledge of MATLAB and other programming languages such as Julia, Python, C++. Core Responsibilities
Support ESA satellite telecommunications system analysis and simulation, including preparing R&D tenders and managing industrial research and development activities. Conduct technical analyses of future satellite communications systems and contribute to technology roadmaps and ESA-wide telecommunications projects.
Requirements
A master's degree or preferably a PhD in telecommunications or electrical engineering is sought, along with a strong background in satellite communications and experience with satellite system and network simulations. Candidates should have at least two years of relevant SATCOM experience and good knowledge of 3GPP 5G; MATLAB and programming languages such as Julia, Python, or C++ are also relevant.
