Senior AWS Platform Engineer
Key Skills
Job Description
Remote EU | Full-time (B2B contract) AWS EKS Kubernetes Terraform GitOps About The Role We are looking for a Senior AWS Platform Engineer to design, build and evolve production cloud platforms used by engineering teams at scale. This is not a traditional infrastructure administration or pipeline-maintenance role. You’ll work hands-on across AWS architecture, Kubernetes/EKS, Infrastructure as Code and platform engineering, taking ownership of cloud environments from design through production operation. You’ll build reusable infrastructure and developer platforms, automate cloud provisioning and delivery, improve reliability and observability, and help engineering teams deploy applications without having to become infrastructure experts themselves. We’re particularly interested in engineers who have built things from scratch: AWS environments, EKS platforms, landing zones, Terraform modules, GitOps workflows, internal platforms or major cloud migrations. Responsibilities Design, build and evolve production infrastructure on AWS. Architect and operate Kubernetes/EKS platforms supporting production workloads. Build reusable infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles. Develop scalable cloud foundations including networking, IAM, compute, storage and managed AWS services. Build and improve GitOps delivery workflows using tools such as ArgoCD or FluxCD. Design and maintain CI/CD automation using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins or similar tooling. Create reusable platform components, modules and automation that enable engineering teams to self-serve. Improve platform reliability, scalability, security and performance. Implement observability across infrastructure and workloads using metrics, logs, traces and alerting. Troubleshoot complex production issues across Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, networking and applications. Contribute to incident response, root-cause analysis, disaster recovery and production readiness. Identify opportunities for cloud cost optimisation and more efficient resource utilisation. Work directly with software engineers, architects and technical stakeholders on infrastructure and platform decisions. Contribute to architecture decisions rather than simply implementing predefined infrastructure tickets. Use Python, Bash or another scripting language to automate operational and platform workflows. Help establish engineering standards and best practices across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code. Requirements Strong professional experience in cloud, platform, DevOps or infrastructure engineering. Deep hands-on production experience with AWS. Strong experience designing and operating Kubernetes, ideally Amazon EKS. Strong commercial experience with Terraform. Experience designing or significantly evolving production cloud infrastructure rather than only maintaining existing environments. Strong understanding of AWS networking, IAM, security and highly available architectures. Experience with Docker and containerised workloads. Hands-on experience with GitOps, ideally ArgoCD or FluxCD. Strong CI/CD experience. Experience with production observability using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, CloudWatch or OpenTelemetry. Experience troubleshooting production infrastructure and distributed systems. Good Linux and networking knowledge. Automation or scripting experience with Python, Bash or Go. Understanding of cloud security and least-privilege principles. Ability to work independently and take technical ownership of complex infrastructure. Professional working proficiency in English (C1+) What we offer Fully remote position. Senior hands-on role with genuine ownership of cloud and platform architecture. Opportunity to build and improve platforms rather than simply maintain existing infrastructure. Modern AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform and GitOps environment. Work on production systems where scalability, reliability and automation genuinely matter. High level of technical autonomy. International engineering environment. Long-term opportunity with significant technical scope.
Core Responsibilities
Design, build, and operate production AWS infrastructure and Kubernetes/EKS platforms, including reusable Terraform components, cloud foundations, and GitOps and CI/CD workflows. Improve platform reliability, security, observability, and cost efficiency while troubleshooting production issues and partnering with engineering teams on architecture and self-service capabilities.
Requirements
Requires deep hands-on production AWS experience, strong Kubernetes/EKS and Terraform expertise, and experience designing or significantly evolving cloud infrastructure. Candidates should also bring GitOps and CI/CD experience, production observability and troubleshooting skills, Linux and networking knowledge, scripting ability, security awareness, technical ownership, and professional English proficiency at C1 or higher.
