Key Skills
Job Description
In a nutshell
Ready to help shape the look of 3,000+ Picnic products?
Our private label assortment is constantly growing and evolving, from improving existing products to launching entirely new ones. Behind every product on the shelf is a packaging design that needs to feel unmistakably Picnic and make it to print perfectly. That’s where you come in. You’ll work at the heart of our Private Label team, bringing together designers, category managers, copywriters, and external creatives to keep our packaging moving from idea to final artwork. You’ll take ownership of artwork updates, range extensions, and packaging deliverables, while bringing your own creative eye to the table. From reviewing colour proofs to ensuring every detail is print-ready, you’ll help us scale our private label identity without compromising on quality.
Note: this is not a UX/UI design job.
Tricks of the trade
- Execute and update artworks: Drive updates on existing private label packaging (e.g., cutter adjustments, copy updates, design tweaks, and range extensions) efficiently to keep lead times low.
- Mock-up creation: Produce accurate digital and physical mock-ups to help cross-functional teams evaluate design directions effectively.
- Stakeholder feedback: Structure design feedback from category managers and creative leads, preparing and executing precise iterations.
- File & asset management: Oversee final production files, ensuring structured archiving and seamless handed-off print assets.
- Quality & guideline assurance: Assess artwork and color proofs to ensure consistency and centralize brand guideline updates across all ranges.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate closely with experienced designers, photographers, and international business stakeholders.
Your superpowers
- A minimum of 2–3 years of professional experience in Packaging Design, Visual Design, Graphic Design, or Desktop Publishing (DTP).
- Deep understanding of print processes, prepress preparation, packaging standards, and color proofs.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating high precision, technical accuracy, and an eye for packaging aesthetics.
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills and a proactive, "roll up your sleeves" mindset. You thrive in an environment with many moving parts and strict deadlines.
- You are fluent in English; written and spoken.

At Picnic, we’re a team of inventors, builders, dreamers, and best-in-class operators! With our app-only business model and custom-built in-house supply chain, we're revolutionizing the way people buy groceries and eat every day. We're growing across the Netherlands, Germany, France, and beyond. It gives us total freedom to experiment with bold, new ideas (which we do a lot!). We love to challenge ourselves and learn by doing. The best way to grow here? By taking ownership from day one and pushing boundaries every single day. As a diverse team of over 85 nationalities, there’s always something happening - whether you’re into sports, board games, charity work, dancing at our legendary Picnic festival, or licorice tasting (yes, really!). Our scale-up culture means you get to own your work and bring fresh ideas to life. If you’re looking to make a real impact, reach out. We’d love to hear from you!
