Location: Bali, Indonesia Compensation: Unpaid Internship (with potential for full-time transition) WHAT YOU'LL DO You'll build the AI systems our portfolio companies depend on: the models, pipelines, and intelligent infrastructure that drive real-world outcomes. This is hands-on AI engineering. You'll take models from concept to deployment, find and fix failures in live systems, tighten performance and reliability, and help ship AI into production. WHO WE ARE Our group has spent thirty years building companies across New York, London, and Tokyo. Today, our teams operate from a 4,000 sqm campus in Canggu, Bali. Across the group, we have raised and deployed more than $150M and operate portfolio companies across energy, bioproduction, and AI infrastructure. Depending on team needs, current projects, and your interests, you may work across: Zero-X — Thermochemical conversion and distributed energy, with 200+ systems live across 11 countries. Seraph Group — Decentralized bioproduction combining AI, robotics, and synthetic biology on one platform. Gemino AI — Safe Reinforcement Learning for industrial control. Core platform OptiVX powers autonomous plant operations and aquatic biomass management, alongside Project Maya, a wearable AI platform. YOUR WORK Your AI work may include: - Building and fine-tuning machine learning models for production use - Designing and maintaining data pipelines and model training workflows - Integrating AI models into applications, APIs, and backend services - Debugging model performance issues and improving accuracy and reliability - Working with large language models, embeddings, retrieval systems, and agent architectures - Testing AI features and supporting deployment into production environments - Collaborating with engineers and technical teams on AI system design and implementation The focus is not on academic exercises. You will work on AI systems connected to real companies, real users, and real engineering challenges. WHO YOU ARE We're looking for candidates who: - Have completed or are close to completing a university degree in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical field - Have hands-on experience with Python, PyTorch or TensorFlow, model training, data pipelines, APIs, Git, and modern AI development workflows - Have a solid understanding of machine learning fundamentals, model architecture, training pipelines, and evaluation - Have experience through university projects, internships, personal projects, or other practical AI work - Can work independently, learn quickly, and solve technical problems - Are able to work fully on-site in Bali, Indonesia for 4-6 months This internship can also be completed as part of a university internship requirement. We don't expect you to already know our entire stack, but you should have a strong AI foundation and be able to learn quickly. WHAT WE PROVIDE - 4-6 month internship in Bali, Indonesia - 25-hour work week: 11 AM to 5 PM - On-campus rooms available at competitive rates - Daily lunch included - Strong interns can move into a full-time role across the group after the internship IMPORTANT This is an unpaid internship. The position is fully on-site in Bali, Indonesia. There is no remote or hybrid option.

Core Responsibilities

Build, fine-tune, integrate, and deploy machine learning models and AI systems for production use. Maintain data and training pipelines, troubleshoot model performance, improve reliability, and collaborate with engineering teams to ship AI features.

Requirements

Candidates should have completed or be close to completing a degree in computer science, AI, machine learning, data science, software engineering, or a related technical field, along with practical AI experience. They should have hands-on experience with Python, PyTorch or TensorFlow, model training, data pipelines, APIs, and Git, and be able to work independently on-site in Bali for 4–6 months.
