Job Description

About Faraday Faraday Geophysics uses seismic surveys to image the subsurface. Our electric seismic sources, known as eVibes, are developed and built in the Netherlands and deployed worldwide for applications including geothermal energy, mining and scientific research. We combine proprietary technology with field operations. With activities across Europe, Canada and Australia, our fleet and technical teams are growing. Based in Veldhoven, we are looking for an experienced technical leader who can support this growth while remaining actively involved in working on equipment. Your role You will hold overall technical responsibility for our international fleet and guide the development of our technical organisation across the group. You will work directly with company leadership and closely with our Technical Operations Manager in the Netherlands, engineering and regional teams. You will set technical priorities and standards, ensuring that the knowledge, people and resources are in place to deliver reliable project operations. You will connect field experience with equipment maintenance, manufacturing and further development. You will lead the resolution of technical challenges: defining the problem, agreeing the technical approach with the team, setting priorities and assigning responsibilities. You will oversee progress and verify that the solution works in practice. You will remain technically involved, contributing directly to fault diagnosis, repairs, modifications and commissioning where your expertise is needed. For complex or urgent issues, you will take the technical lead, either remotely or at the project site. You will also contribute to practical product development. You will identify improvements that make our equipment more reliable, easier to operate and simpler to maintain. You will use CAD to develop straightforward components, brackets and mounting solutions, working with engineering on more complex design challenges. What will you do · Develop and implement a consistent international approach to maintenance, reliability and technical support. · Work with company leadership and regional teams to determine technical capacity, fleet requirements and priorities. · Provide technical guidance and support to the Technical Operations Manager and regional technical leads. · Establish technical standards for equipment assembly, testing, maintenance, modifications and release for deployment. · Lead the resolution of complex technical problems, from analysis and selection of the approach through task allocation, implementation and verification. · Guide technicians and engineers through troubleshooting and contribute hands-on where your expertise is needed. · Develop practical improvements in CAD and work with the workshop team to build and test them. · Turn recurring issues into lasting improvements in collaboration with engineering. · Train technicians and operators, building greater technical independence within our regional teams. · Ensure that technical documentation, maintenance records and knowledge transfer are practical and effective. · Advise on equipment investment, spare parts, overhauls and fleet expansion. · Maintain safe working practices, technical quality and equipment readiness while considering project schedules and costs. Who are we looking for You are an experienced technical professional with initiative, sound judgement and leadership skills. You are comfortable in both the workshop and the field. You take ownership when equipment fails and follow through on preventing the problem from recurring. Colleagues trust your technical judgement, and you enjoy sharing your knowledge. You bring: · A solid background in mechatronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or equivalent practical experience. · Extensive hands-on experience in building, commissioning, maintaining and repairing complex machinery. · Experience providing technical leadership, coaching colleagues and improving working practices. · Broad knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, with sufficient understanding of drives, sensors and control systems to diagnose problems across the complete machine. · Practical CAD skills: you can model simple components and assemblies and produce technical drawings. · An understanding of manufacturability, assembly and maintenance requirements. · Experience in an operational environment where equipment downtime directly affects project delivery. · The ability to balance technical decisions with safety, equipment availability, schedules and costs. · Good communication skills in Dutch and English. · Willingness to work regularly from Veldhoven and travel internationally, including at short notice for urgent technical issues. Previous seismic experience is not required. We will provide a thorough introduction to our technology. Relevant backgrounds may include machinery manufacturing, offshore operations, field service, commissioning, instrument making or specialist equipment. If you are currently a senior field service engineer, technical superintendent or hands-on technical team leader looking for broader responsibility, we would also like to hear from you. What do we offer · A senior technical role with international responsibility. · Direct collaboration with company leadership and influence over technical decisions and investments. · The opportunity to work with proprietary electric seismic technology deployed worldwide. · A combination of technical leadership, practical product development and hands-on equipment work. · Scope to help build and strengthen our international technical organisation. · Variety between workshop activities in Veldhoven and overseas projects. · A salary and benefits package aligned with your experience and responsibilities.

Core Responsibilities

Lead technical strategy and support for the international equipment fleet, setting standards for maintenance, reliability, deployment readiness, and technical operations. Direct complex troubleshooting and hands-on repairs, develop practical equipment improvements, and strengthen regional teams through training, documentation, and technical guidance.

Requirements

Candidates need extensive hands-on experience building, commissioning, maintaining, and repairing complex machinery, along with technical leadership experience and broad mechanical and electrical systems knowledge. Practical CAD skills, an understanding of manufacturing and maintenance needs, strong Dutch and English communication, and willingness to work regularly in Veldhoven and travel internationally are required.
