Key Skills
Job Description
Background Nokami is building the infrastructure layer for source-verified receipts. We capture the itemised receipt at the merchant’s POS or hotel PMS, match it to the card transaction and send it to the employee’s expense platform. We work with any card issuer and any expense platform. Finance teams stop chasing receipts, AI-generated receipt fraud has nothing to fake, and merchants earn a revenue share on every matched receipt. Several leading European expense platforms have shown validated buyer interest. I’m looking for a full-time technical co-founder to own the platform, build the integration network across POS, PMS and expense systems, and raise our pre-seed round with me. What you’ll do Own the technical architecture: the data model, the integration layer and the matching engine. A working platform is in place, and you decide where it goes next. Build POS and PMS integrations across the major vendors (Square, Toast, Lightspeed, SumUp, Tebi, CCV, Clover and others) on a shared adapter design, so each new POS or expense platform takes configuration work only. This n-by-m problem is the core of the product. Keep matching deterministic. Structured data from the source lets you link receipts to card transactions with rules you can audit, including auth/settle gaps, tips and split payments. Own security and privacy: PCI-safe data handling, GDPR, and a design that keeps cardholder names and card numbers out of our systems. Build self-serve onboarding so thousands of merchants can connect their POS, verify their business and start earning without needing us. That includes automated revenue-share payouts. Set how we build: the tooling, the process and how the team uses AI coding agents as it grows. Shape product direction with me, as a partner. Raise the pre-seed with me: own the technical story, join investor meetings and lead due diligence. What we’re looking for 5+ years building production systems at scale, ideally in payments, fintech or data infrastructure. Strong opinions on architecture, with the technical depth to back them up. Comfort with payments and financial-data ambiguity: auth/settle gaps, tokenization, reconciliation edge cases. Experience with security and privacy for financial data (PCI DSS, GDPR). Hands-on experience building with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, agent frameworks), with clear views on where they help and where they don’t. Python and Postgres preferred. You’ll have full freedom on architectural decisions. Pre-seed temperament: you ship under uncertainty and handle shifting priorities. You’ll push back on bad ideas, mine or anyone else’s. Former founders are welcome. If you’ve built a company before and want to do it again with a strong commercial partner, I’d like to talk. Bonus points Experience integrating with POS or PMS APIs, payment processors or expense management platforms. Familiarity with event-driven architectures and async reconciliation patterns. Experience building self-serve onboarding and automated payouts at scale, for example on a marketplace or platform with business verification (KYB) and payout flows. Experience designing agent-callable APIs or MCP servers. Experience supporting a startup fundraise, including technical due diligence. Contributions to open-source fintech or payments infrastructure. Why join us Co-founder equity, vesting on a milestone ladder as the company and your role grow. Full ownership of the technical roadmap. You decide what gets built and how. Validated buyer interest from European expense platforms, with ambitions to scale globally. You’ll work with me. I bring ten years of partnerships experience in online travel and hospitality, and I’m looking for an equally strong technical partner. Amsterdam preferred, and I’m happy to meet for a coffee first. Strong remote candidates in the EU are welcome too. Full-time. I want to pay a fair salary but can’t yet. Once we raise, we’ll agree yours together. Until then, your equity reflects the risk you take on.
Core Responsibilities
Own the technical architecture and build a scalable integration network connecting POS, PMS, card transactions, and expense platforms, with deterministic receipt matching and secure financial-data handling. Develop merchant onboarding and payout systems, set engineering practices, shape product direction, and partner in fundraising and technical due diligence.
Requirements
Requires 5+ years building production systems at scale, ideally in payments, fintech, or data infrastructure, with strong architecture skills and familiarity with payment reconciliation edge cases. Candidates should have financial-data security and privacy experience, hands-on experience with AI coding tools, and preferably Python and PostgreSQL experience; POS/PMS integrations and startup fundraising are advantageous.

About Nokami
Industry: Technology, Information and Internet
Company size: 2-10 employees
Nokami makes receipt management invisible. When an employee pays with a corporate card, the merchant's POS or hotel PMS already holds the full itemised receipt. We're building the infrastructure to capture that receipt at the source, match it to the card transaction and send it straight to the employee's expense platform. Less fraud. The receipt comes from the merchant's own system, so there's no image to edit or fake. AI-generated receipts have no way in. Less time wasted. Employees stop scanning, uploading and chasing receipts. Finance teams stop matching them by hand and following up on missing ones. Less paper. The receipt stays digital from the till to the expense report, so merchants print fewer receipts and fewer end up in the bin. We're designing Nokami to work with any card issuer and any expense platform. Based in Amsterdam. Get in touch at [email protected].
