Connectivity Design Engineer
Key Skills
Job Description
Introduction to the job As an electrical connectivity design engineer in power electronics, you will turn complex electrical concepts into reliable solutions for ASML’s advanced lithography systems. You will design the electrical infrastructure that connects powers our machines, including cables, racks, cabinets, interconnection boards and supporting schematics. Your work will directly support machine performance, smooth integration and predictable product delivery. You will balance electrical safety, electromagnetic compatibility, manufacturability, serviceability and system-level requirements throughout the design process. The role also offers opportunities to expand into adjacent areas in power electronics such as board design, firmware, integration, control and test equipment. You can deepen your design ownership while building a broader view across technical disciplines and product interfaces. Role and responsibilities As an electrical connectivity design engineer, you will develop complex electrical solutions from requirements through qualification and handover. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, suppliers, manufacturing and service teams to deliver designs that work reliably in practice. Define and maintain electrical connectivity designs for modules and cabinets, including cables, racks, interconnection boards and schematics. Translate requirements into robust solutions by aligning with electrical architects, adjacent engineering disciplines and integration teams. Create and maintain clear technical documentation, including functional overviews, block diagrams, wiring diagrams and cable-bundle overviews. Improve design quality by identifying risks early and meeting electrical safety, electromagnetic compatibility and relevant international standards. Support prototype builds, product qualification and supplier execution by providing technical guidance and resolving design issues. Contribute to solutions involving power electronics, printed circuit board assemblies, firmware, integration, control or test equipment when needed. Share knowledge with manufacturing and service engineers, analyze reliability issues, coach colleagues and occasionally visit suppliers in the Eindhoven region. Education and experience Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering or an equivalent technical field. At least three years of experience in electrical connectivity design or a closely related electrical design role. Experience in power electronics Experience completing at least one full design cycle for a complex high-tech product or system. Technical knowledge of electrical and electronic module design, including cables, racks, cabinets and interconnection boards. Broad understanding of electronics and its interfaces with physics, mechanics, mechatronics and software. Experience as a technical leader in multidisciplinary design teams, aligning technical direction and specifications with varied stakeholders. Ability to work independently on complex assignments and make practical design choices within agreed boundaries. Skills Working at the cutting edge of technology means facing new challenges and solving them together. You will join a creative, dynamic environment where supportive colleagues value different perspectives. You will have the flexibility and trust to choose how best to approach tasks and solve problems. To thrive as an electrical connectivity design engineer, you will need: Structured problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound technical trade-offs with incomplete information. Clear communication skills for aligning requirements, risks and decisions across disciplines. Ownership of design quality, timely delivery and practical implementation. Ability to read, create and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation. Collaborative approach when working with architects, engineers, suppliers, manufacturing and service teams. Curiosity and learning agility to develop knowledge in adjacent technical domains. Ability to coach colleagues and share technical knowledge clearly. Other information This role is based in Veldhoven, the Netherlands, with hybrid working possible. Please submit your resume and a cover letter with your application; applications without a cover letter will not be processed. About ASML
Industry: Semiconductor Manufacturing
Company size: 10,001+ employees
Who are we? ASML is an innovation leader in the global semiconductor industry. We make machines that chipmakers use to mass produce microchips. Founded in 1984 in the Netherlands with just a handful of employees, we’ve now grown to over 40,000 employees, 143 nationalities and more than 60 locations around the world. What do we do? We provide chipmakers with hardware, software and services to mass produce patterns on silicon through lithography. Our lithography systems use ultraviolet light to create billions of tiny structures on silicon that together make up a microchip. We push our technology to new limits to enable our customers to create smaller, faster and more powerful chips. Who are our people? While you may think that only engineers and mathematicians work at ASML, you'll be surprised to find out that our people come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Across ASML, we have dedicated teams that manage customer support, communications and media, IT, software development and more.
