Job Description

Role Overview The Senior Project Manager – Business & Risk Analysis is responsible for the governance, project management, business analysis and risk management of initiatives within the Tech Standards sub-department. The role partners with teams across Booking.com to facilitate work between product, technology, business units and centralized functions. The role combines senior project management with structured business and risk analysis. It ensures that proposed changes to planning, reporting and Jira tooling are grounded in business needs, supported by evidence, and assessed for their broader impact before implementation. The Senior Project Manager helps teams scope and plan initiatives by documenting the project goal, KPIs, roadmap, requirements and key deliverables, while ensuring that decisions, dependencies and outcomes are transparent to stakeholders. The Senior Project Manager works collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels, including Director level, and may engage external vendors or stakeholders where required. The role helps teams mitigate risks and dependencies, maintain progress against milestones, and ensure that roadmaps and plans remain aligned to agreed business priorities, enterprise strategies and shared objectives. Key Responsibilities Project Management Apply structured project and change management methodologies to lead initiatives from discovery through implementation and handover to business as usual. Own the successful delivery of the end-to-end project lifecycle, including execution, analysis, recommendation, implementation and closure. Independently lead low- to medium-complexity projects with global and cross-functional impact. Drive project scoping and planning by documenting the project goal, KPIs, roadmap, milestones, dependencies and main deliverables. Track and report progress, risks, decisions and dependencies through clear planning and reporting documents. Ensure that projects are closed effectively and that the correct ownership, documentation and operational handover are in place. Apply change management processes and tools to support adoption of changes introduced by a project or initiative. Business and risk analysis Perform detailed risk and impact analysis for proposed changes to tooling, processes, workflows and governance. Think through the second-order impacts of every tooling change before it is handed to PInT for delivery or implementation. Assess how proposed rules, workflows or configuration changes could affect team ways of working, create unnecessary friction, introduce unintended consequences or affect downstream reporting. Identify assumptions, constraints, dependencies and failure modes early, and translate them into practical recommendations and mitigation actions. Balance standardisation with the needs of different teams and business contexts, ensuring that governance decisions are proportionate, evidence-based and workable in practice. Provide clear recommendations to decision-makers, including the expected benefits, trade-offs, risks and implementation considerations. Requirements Translate business needs and operational problems into clear, detailed and actionable technical requirements for PInT and other delivery partners. Define the problem statement, desired outcomes, business rules, user impacts, data requirements, acceptance criteria and implementation considerations. Maintain accurate, accessible and up-to-date project, process, decision and requirements documentation. Establish and maintain a single source of truth so that stakeholders can understand the current state, agreed decisions, requirements, roadmap and ownership. Communicate complex requirements and project insights in a clear and structured way to both technical and non-technical audiences. Data analysis and hypothesis testing Use Jira and Oboard data to quantify problems, identify patterns and support prioritisation. Formulate hypotheses about process, tooling and data-quality issues, and test them through structured analysis. Analyse data to validate assumptions, measure the impact of proposed changes and identify opportunities for improvement. Translate analysis into concise insights, recommendations and decision material for stakeholders. Promote evidence-based planning and reporting, using data to distinguish isolated issues from systemic problems. Working group coordination and improvement backlog management Support the coordination and day-to-day management of the backlog of improvements raised by the Business Operations, Programme Management, Product and Technology working groups. Bring together requests from the working groups, clarify the underlying problem, assess impact and risk, and prepare items for prioritisation. Track actions, decisions, dependencies and follow-ups across working groups and ensure that agreed improvements continue to progress. Help create a transparent view of improvement demand, priorities, ownership, status and expected outcomes. Facilitate collaboration between working group representatives, PInT and other stakeholders to move improvements from problem definition through delivery and adoption. Stakeholder engagement and communication Engage and influence stakeholders at all levels inside and, where required, outside the organisation. Work collaboratively with business unit partners, corporate support teams and functional technology teams to drive enterprise strategy execution. Build engagement and, where needed, governance around decisions required for work to be approved and signed off. Communicate project insights, risks, options and recommendations clearly across all relevant stakeholder groups. Work productively with diverse stakeholders up to Director level and create alignment across teams with different priorities and perspectives.

Core Responsibilities

Lead cross-functional projects from discovery through implementation and handover, managing scope, milestones, dependencies, risks, reporting, and change adoption. Analyze proposed changes to tools and processes, coordinate improvement backlogs, and provide evidence-based recommendations while aligning stakeholders and maintaining clear documentation.

Requirements

The role requires the ability to translate business needs into actionable technical requirements, conduct risk and impact analysis, and use Jira and Oboard data to test hypotheses and inform decisions. It also calls for structured project and change management, clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and the ability to work across teams and engage stakeholders up to Director level.
