Role Description The DG Specialist is a full-time, on-site role located in Schiphol-Rijk. This position is responsible for reviewing and approving dangerous goods documentation, including declarations, labels, and packaging requirements, to ensure full compliance with international and local regulations. Day-to-day tasks include coordinating with internal teams and external clients, verifying shipments against regulatory standards, and resolving discrepancies in documentation and handling. The DG Specialist monitors changes in dangerous goods regulations, provides guidance to colleagues and customers, and supports audits and quality checks in the warehouse and office environment. The role also involves maintaining accurate records, preparing reports, and contributing to process improvements that enhance safety, efficiency, and regulatory adherence. Qualifications Strong knowledge of dangerous goods regulations (e.g., IATA DGR, ADR, IMDG) and practical experience with classification, packaging, marking, and labeling. Experience in logistics, air cargo, or freight forwarding operations, preferably in a role involving hazardous materials or compliance. Ability to review and prepare documentation with a high level of accuracy, including dangerous goods declarations and shipment records. Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with warehouse staff, customer service, and external clients. Good organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced operational environment. Comfort with using computer systems and logistics software for data entry, tracking, and reporting. Relevant DG certifications or training are highly beneficial; willingness to obtain and maintain required certifications. Proficiency in English (spoken and written); Dutch language skills are a plus. Attention to detail, a strong sense of responsibility, and commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

Core Responsibilities

Review and approve dangerous goods declarations, labels, packaging, and shipment records to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Coordinate with colleagues and clients, resolve documentation or handling discrepancies, monitor regulatory changes, support audits, and contribute to safety and process improvements.

Requirements

Requires strong knowledge of dangerous goods regulations such as IATA DGR, ADR, and IMDG, along with practical experience in classification, packaging, marking, and labeling. Logistics, air cargo, or freight forwarding experience, accurate documentation skills, effective communication, organizational ability, and comfort with logistics software are sought; relevant certifications are beneficial, and English proficiency is required.
