Senior System Test & Validation Engineer
Key Skills
Job Description
As a Senior System Test & Validation Engineer at Optics11, you are responsible for defining and driving system-level verification and validation for complex multidisciplinary products.
You develop a strong understanding of the product, customer use cases, system architecture, operating environment, and technical risks, and translate these into effective validation strategies, test setups, and test campaigns.
The systems you validate combine sensing hardware, embedded software, Edge computing, networking, cloud software, data processing, algorithms, and customer-facing applications. Your role is therefore focused on validating the complete system and ensuring that critical customer workflows work reliably before release.
You work closely with Product, Systems Engineering, Software, Embedded, Hardware, Algorithms, Operations, Manufacturing, and other IVVQ engineers.
This is a senior hands-on individual contributor role, combining system-level thinking, test design, technical investigation, and practical validation.
Qualifications
BSc or MSc in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Embedded Systems, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
7+ years of relevant experience in system testing, verification & validation, integration testing, or product qualification.
Experience validating complex multidisciplinary products combining hardware and software.
Strong understanding of system-level test strategy, risk-based testing, requirements verification, and product qualification.
Experience translating requirements and customer use cases into practical validation approaches.
Experience designing system test setups and representative test environments.
Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills across subsystem boundaries.
Working knowledge of Linux and networking.
Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, and modern engineering workflows.
Experience with requirements traceability and verification evidence.
Strong communication skills in English and a collaborative working style.
Eligible for required EU/NATO/security screening or clearance, where applicable.
Nice to have
Python experience for test automation, analysis, or tooling.
Hardware-in-the-Loop or automated system-level testing experience.
Experience with Edge systems, Docker, or cloud-connected products.
Experience with environmental, reliability, lifetime, or mechanical testing.
Experience with industrial sensing, condition monitoring, photonics, energy systems, or similar technologies.
Experience with FAT, commissioning, or field validation.
Experience with requirements-management tools such as Jira, Polarion.
