About The Role As a Data Engineer at Zonneplan, you will play a pivotal role in developing and enhancing our central data platform. Your work will directly impact the entire organization by ensuring reliable, secure, and accessible data pipelines and models. You will be responsible for building robust data infrastructure that supports various teams, including engineering, trading, optimization, and AI development. Your contributions will lay the technical foundation for our upcoming machine learning platform, enabling advanced analytics and AI-driven solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate data requests into sustainable self-service solutions, ensuring faster data processing and empowering colleagues to work independently with data. Qualifications Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role Proficiency in SQL and data modeling Experience in building and managing reliable data pipelines Strong understanding of data quality, security, and reliability principles Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical colleagues Experience with tools such as Dagster, Snowflake, Postgres, Kafka, dbt, Airbyte, Kubernetes, or AWS is a plus Familiarity with data mesh architecture and self-service analytics is advantageous Interest and daily use of AI tools like Claude Code or similar Proactive mindset with the ability to identify and implement improvements independently Willingness to learn new tools and technologies quickly Responsibilities Develop and improve the central data platform to support organizational needs Create and maintain dependable data pipelines and models ensuring data integrity and availability Monitor data processes, identify issues early, and resolve them proactively Implement data security measures, access controls, and quality checks Translate organizational data requests into scalable, sustainable solutions Lay the technical groundwork for the ML platform, collaborating with developers to align on requirements Utilize AI tools to automate tasks, enhance development, and improve documentation and monitoring Share insights and learnings actively within the team to foster continuous improvement Stay updated on emerging data tools and technologies, integrating them into workflows as appropriate Benefits Competitive salary ranging from €3,500 to €5,000 gross per month, based on experience and skills 25 vacation days, with options to purchase additional days Reiskostenvergoeding (travel allowance) Personalized keuzebudget for sports, groceries, or other personal needs Access to Zonneplan Academie for professional development and continuous learning State-of-the-art tooling, including a Claude Code Max 20x license or equivalent Clear career progression paths from medior to senior Data Engineer and Tech Lead Data Dynamic work environment with close collaboration among engineers, data specialists, and product teams Contributing to a sustainable mission with a tangible societal impact Equal Opportunity Zonneplan is an equal opportunity employer. Core Responsibilities

Develop and improve Zonneplan’s central data platform, building reliable pipelines and models while ensuring data integrity, availability, security, and quality. Translate organizational data needs into scalable self-service solutions, help establish the technical foundation for the machine learning platform, and use AI tools to automate and improve development, documentation, and monitoring.

Requirements

Applicants should have 1–2 years of experience as a data engineer or in a similar role, proficiency in SQL and data modeling, and experience building reliable data pipelines. They should understand data quality, security, and reliability, communicate effectively with non-technical colleagues, use AI tools, and be proactive and willing to learn; experience with the listed data technologies and data mesh is advantageous.
