Job Description

Non-Financial Risk Control Specialist End-to-End NFR programme at a large bank in Amsterdam · 36 hours · start October · six months, programme runs into 2027 A bank in Amsterdam is running a bank-wide non-financial risk programme with high regulatory priority. A gap analysis on the controls already exists, and so does the preliminary guidance. What is missing is the person who applies it. The programme does the clean-up with an AI tool it built for the purpose, so it needs someone who knows a good control well enough to tell when the tool is wrong. The seat has been open since June and the team has no time to onboard anyone. What you will do You take the gap analysis for selected areas and optimise the control set: cut the controls that duplicate each other or do nothing, redesign the ones that don't work, close the gaps. The AI tool does a first pass. The judgement is yours. You rewrite the guidelines and procedures behind the controls, and the training the first-line control owners need to run them. You also keep the wave moving. That means coordinating with the other workstreams, the Policy and Risk Type Owners, the BaU risk teams and the first line, and reporting progress on a dashboard the programme steers by. It is a big part of the job. What you bring - You have worked on a non-financial risk and control framework inside a bank, and you can name the process, the controls and what was wrong with them. - Control design and control-effectiveness testing are things you have done, not overseen. - You have worked in a GRC tool day to day. Which one matters less than that you have. - You know how a bank's key processes work. Second line preferred. - You've used AI in your own work and want to use more of it. Building it isn't the job. - You can move between a risk type owner and a first-line team lead in the same afternoon, and keep both to a date. English is the working language. Dutch is useful with the first line, not required. What we offer Fixed-term employment with BrightStone Group for as long as the assignment runs: six months to start with, in a programme that runs into 2027. €8,300 to €9,100 gross per month including holiday allowance, on 36 hours. Hybrid, with real office days in Amsterdam. You live in the Netherlands and can already work here; we cannot sponsor a visa. Apply through this post and put one line at the top of your CV: which bank, which control or gap, what you changed. That line decides whether we call you this week. Questions: [email protected]

Core Responsibilities

Optimize controls in selected areas by removing duplicative or ineffective controls, redesigning controls that do not work, and closing identified gaps, using an AI tool for an initial review and applying independent judgment. Rewrite supporting guidelines, procedures, and training, coordinate across programme workstreams and risk stakeholders, and report progress through the programme dashboard.

Requirements

Candidates must have hands-on experience with a bank's non-financial risk and control framework, including control design and effectiveness testing, and day-to-day use of a GRC tool. They should understand key banking processes, be able to coordinate with risk owners and first-line teams, and have experience using AI; second-line experience is preferred, while Dutch is useful but not required.
