Job Description
Finance Manager | International Environment | €90,000 incl. holiday allowance + 12% bonus | 40 hours | Alkmaar area Are you an experienced Finance Manager who combines strong accounting knowledge with a practical, hands-on mindset? For an international organisation in the Alkmaar area, I’m looking for a Finance Manager who enjoys having real ownership. Someone who can lead an experienced finance team, knows their way around audits, statutory reporting and consolidation, and is comfortable making decisions without needing everything to be mapped out first. This is a broad role with responsibility across multiple entities in the Netherlands, the US and Finland. You’ll work directly with senior finance stakeholders across different countries and have the autonomy to run the day-to-day finance operation from the Netherlands. The role As Finance Manager, you’ll take ownership of the accounting operation across several international entities and lead a team of three experienced finance professionals. It’s a role that combines leadership with hands-on accounting. You won’t simply review the work of others: you’ll be close enough to the numbers to step in, investigate and solve issues yourself when needed. Your responsibilities will include: • Leading and supporting two GL Accountants and a Credit Controller • Owning month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activities • Preparing and overseeing statutory financial statements across the Netherlands, US and Finland • Leading statutory and group audits end to end and acting as the main point of contact for external auditors • Following up on audit findings and continuously strengthening internal accounting controls • Owning consolidation across multiple entities, including intercompany matching, eliminations and FX translation • Ensuring accurate financial reporting across a multi-entity, multi-currency environment • Overseeing AP/AR, reconciliations, collections and cash-flow forecasting • Overseeing payroll accounting and working with external payroll providers • Ensuring VAT, wage tax and corporate tax requirements are handled accurately and on time • Working closely with Group Finance on consolidation and reporting requirements • Using ERP and consolidation systems to continuously improve and automate accounting processes • Acting as a key finance contact for internal and external stakeholders across several countries The international structure means you’ll have plenty of exposure beyond the Dutch entities. Your CFO is based abroad, so there is a high level of trust and autonomy in the role. Who are you? We’re looking for someone who has built a strong foundation in accounting and is comfortable taking broad responsibility for an international finance operation. You’re analytically strong and detail-oriented, but also pragmatic and decisive. You enjoy solving problems, can shift priorities when needed and communicate confidently with different stakeholders. You bring: • Extensive experience within accounting and finance, ideally around 10 years or more • Several years of experience in a senior finance, accounting or leadership role • Strong hands-on experience with external audits and statutory accounts • Solid knowledge of IFRS and Dutch GAAP • Experience with consolidation and group reporting • Experience in a multi-entity and multi-currency environment • Experience with internal controls and accounting governance • Leadership experience and the ability to guide an experienced finance team • Strong stakeholder management skills in an international environment • Experience working with ERP and consolidation systems • Excellent English communication skills Familiarity with US GAAP is a plus, as is knowledge of Dutch VAT and corporate income tax. Experience within manufacturing, automotive or aviation would be particularly relevant to the environment, but is not a requirement. Most importantly, you’re someone who takes ownership. You don’t need to have seen every situation before, but you know how to assess what is needed, involve the right people and move things forward. Why this role? What makes this opportunity interesting is the combination of scope, autonomy and international exposure. You’ll have responsibility across the Netherlands, US and Finland, lead an experienced local finance team and work directly with senior international finance stakeholders. It’s an environment where you can use both sides of your finance experience: the technical depth to understand what is happening in the numbers and the leadership and stakeholder skills to turn that into action. You’ll be trusted to run your area, make decisions and continuously improve how things are done. What’s on offer? • €90,000 gross annual salary including holiday allowance • 12% annual bonus based on personal and company performance • Good pension scheme • Car allowance or lease car option • International scope and direct exposure to senior finance leadership • An experienced finance team • Significant autonomy and responsibility • 40 hours per week • Four days per week at the office in the Alkmaar area, with Friday working from home(if you wish) Interested? If you’re looking for a Finance Manager role where you can combine technical accounting with leadership, international exposure and genuine ownership, I’d love to hear from you. You don’t necessarily need to tick every single box. If you recognise yourself in the combination of accounting expertise, autonomy, pragmatism and people leadership, feel free to reach out or apply directly.

About MM Talent & Culture
Industry: Staffing and Recruiting
Company size: 1 employee
Most founders don't wake up thinking they need HR. They wake up thinking: "We need to hire fast." "Our managers are spending too much time recruiting." "Our culture is changing as we grow." "We need structure, but we're not ready for a full HR team." That's where I come in. I help start-ups and scale-ups hire exceptional people, build solid HR foundations and create cultures that scale. Over the past 10+ years I've worked with fast-growing international businesses across Europe, helping them expand into new markets, attract top talent and build people practices that actually support growth. My approach is practical, commercial and hands-on. I don't believe in creating HR for the sake of HR. I believe in giving founders the confidence to grow their business by making sure the right people, processes and culture are in place. Whether it's hiring your next key employee, setting up HR from scratch, navigating complex employee relations, supporting an international expansion or creating an employee handbook that truly reflects your brand, I become part of your team, not just another external consultant. My goal is simple: To help you grow until you no longer need me. If you're building something ambitious and want a trusted partner for Recruitment, People & Culture, I'd love to connect.
