Job Description: Customs Declarant About the Role As a Customs Declarant, you will be responsible for ensuring correct and timely customs declarations in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. You will work closely with internal departments, customs authorities, and external partners to facilitate the smooth handling of import and export processes. Key Responsibilities Preparing and submitting all required customs declarations accurately and in a timely manner. Gathering and verifying information needed for customs and tax declarations. Identifying and addressing any irregularities in customs documentation. Advising internal teams and customers on customs regulations and procedures. Maintaining customs compliance by ensuring documentation is complete and up to date. Supporting continuous improvements in customs procedures and compliance processes. Requirements Solid knowledge of customs regulations, procedures, and documentation. Experience with import and export operations, preferably in air, sea, or road freight. Strong communication skills in Dutch and English, both spoken and written. Ability to work independently, accurately, and under time pressure. Familiarity with customs IT systems and MS Office applications. Proactive, detail-oriented, and solution-driven mindset. Preferred Qualifications Some years of experience as a Customs Declarant. Completed education as a Customs Declarant or relevant certification. Additional language skills (German, French) are a plus.

Core Responsibilities

Prepare and submit accurate, timely customs declarations, verify supporting information, and resolve irregularities in customs documentation. Advise internal teams and customers on customs procedures, maintain compliant records, and support improvements to customs processes.

Requirements

Candidates should have solid knowledge of customs regulations, procedures, and documentation, along with import and export experience, preferably in freight. Strong spoken and written Dutch and English, accuracy under time pressure, familiarity with customs IT systems and Microsoft Office, and a proactive approach are expected; customs declarant experience or relevant education or certification is preferred.
