Job Description

Introduction The Competence Team within Global Quality & Excellence (GQE) supports quality improvement across ASML by helping teams solve complex challenges and drive structural improvements. In this Internship, you will investigate issues in the return process of highly sensitive EUV mirrors, which are among the most critical and valuable components within ASML systems. By combining data analysis, stakeholder interviews, and structured problem-solving methods, you will help identify root causes and improve process performance. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work on a business-critical challenge with visibility across multiple departments. As an intern, you will contribute directly to improving quality and operational excellence within ASML. Your assignment During this Internship, you will become part of a quality investigation team and take ownership of a structured root cause analysis. You will work with experienced quality professionals and stakeholders from different parts of the organization to understand why issues occur in the return flow of EUV mirrors and develop sustainable improvement recommendations. The outcome of your work will support better process performance, quality, and operational reliability. Your main responsibilities will be: Define and structure the problem statement using established problem-solving methodologies Collect, organize, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data Conduct stakeholder interviews to understand current processes and challenges Identify root causes behind recurring issues in the mirror return flow Validate findings using data-driven problem-solving techniques Develop practical recommendations for structural process improvements Present conclusions and improvement proposals to key stakeholders and management This is a bachelor's or master's thesis internship for minimum 5 months, minimum 5 days per week. The start date of this internship is as of February 2027. Your profile To be suitable for the internship, you: Are pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in industrial engineering, operations management, technical business administration, or a closely related field Have experience with or knowledge of structured problem-solving methodologies such as Six Sigma, DMAIC, 8D, A3, or similar approaches Are analytical and able to translate data into clear insights and recommendations Are collaborative and communicate effectively with stakeholders from different backgrounds Are proactive and comfortable taking ownership of complex investigations This Internship is particularly suited for students who enjoy solving complex operational challenges, uncovering root causes, and creating sustainable improvements.
