Job Description

This position is based at our Luxembourg headquarters and requires regular office presence. The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its Portfolio Management & Monitoring Directorate (PMM), Joint Middle Office Department (JMO), Counterparty Management/KYC Centre of Expertise Division (KYC), Counterparties Onboarding & KYC Unit (CPT), at its headquarters in Luxembourg, an Associate Compliance Officer - KYC. * This is a full-time temporary position at grade 4. The term of this contract will be until December 15th, 2027; as this is a temporary replacement assignment, no extension or conversion of the contract is foreseen. internal benchmark Associate Officer Compliance Panel interviews are foreseen as from October 2026. Purpose Act as 1st Line of Defence (LoD), identifying, assessing, and following up on the Compliance risk relating to the Bank’s new and existing Relevant Counterparties, in line with EIB’s policies and procedures. Contribute to the implementation of the Know Your Customer (KYC) and Customer Due diligence (CDD) processes, follow work procedures, and contribute to specific improvement projects or initiatives (e.g. Client life cycle Management System, Group Client Portal, etc.). Specific Post Environment Under the 3 LoD model for Compliance, the JMO/KYC Division is in charge of Customer Due Diligence on all new and existing EIB Counterparties involved in Lending, Treasury and Borrowing activities. This includes (i) KYC checks (identification and verification of the identity of EIB counterparties, including the mapping of their ownership structure up to the Ultimate Beneficial Owners, and their key persons, and as well as (ii) the screening and CDD assessment, in accordance with applicable AML/CFT, sanctions, and integrity compliance requirements. Operating Network Reporting to a Head of Unit, you will work in close cooperation with other Bank services (notably with OPS/GLO, PMM, FI and OCCO) and with the EIF. You will also interact with EIB external counterparties. Accountabilities Take end to end responsibility for the verification of the identity of the EIB Relevant Counterparty and the analysis of its corporate structure, with regards to its shareholding, its management and its controlling entity/beneficial ownership, on the basis of data and documents provided by specialist corporate data providers, publicly available sources, and provided by the counterparty. Perform AML/CFT, CDD on new and existing counterparties, i.e. Adverse Media, PEP and Sanctions screening and assessment in order to define a ML-FT risk scoring for the counterparty. Ensure the monitoring of accurate and complete KYC/AML-CFT due diligence records on existing counterparties and ensure that the Client lifecycle Management System is updated to reflect completion of review and relevant details. Propose improvements and implement the necessary processes, procedures, IT systems, methodologies, and working tools to conduct KYC/AML-CFT due diligence. Support the development and implementation of procedures for creating and managing the standing data of all EIB counterparts in loan, borrowing, and treasury operations. Liaise with staff in other services of the Bank and with the Relevant Counterparties for the timely collection, completion and of validation of KYC/AML Due Diligence when applicable. Qualifications University degree (minimum an equivalent to a Bachelor), preferably in Law, Finance/Economics, or another related subject. Additional studies, certifications, or experience in compliance-related fields would be an advantage. At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in banking, in areas related to the KYC/ AML-CFT regulatory environment or other related compliance areas, preferably gained within the EU financial sector and/or in MDBs. Knowledge of relevant KYC/AML-CFT regulations and best practices. Knowledge of Compliance related data bases and standard IT tools. Good communication and writing skills. Experience in writing comprehensive reports and producing and delivering presentations and trainings. Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French with good command of the other. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an advantage. Core Responsibilities

Conduct end-to-end identity verification and corporate ownership analysis for new and existing counterparties, including AML/CFT, sanctions, adverse media, and PEP screening and risk assessment. Maintain complete due diligence records, update client lifecycle systems, coordinate with internal teams and counterparties, and contribute to improvements in KYC processes, procedures, and tools.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree or equivalent is required, preferably in law, finance, economics, or a related field; additional compliance studies, certifications, or experience are advantageous. Candidates need at least three years of relevant banking or compliance experience, knowledge of KYC/AML-CFT regulations and databases, strong communication and reporting skills, and excellent English and/or French with a good command of the other language.
