Job Description

Project Manager Would you like to lead complex projects in a pharmaceutical environment where quality and reliability are key? As a Project Manager at Prothya, you translate strategic ambitions into tangible results. You bring experts together and guide projects from the initial business case through to a successful handover to operations. Your role Within the Engineering department, you are responsible for long-term, multidisciplinary projects with a significant impact on our organisation. Most projects involve pharmaceutical installations, making GMP and the associated quality requirements an essential part of your work. You provide functional leadership to project teams comprising internal and external experts, ensuring that scope, budget, schedule and quality remain aligned. You balance stakeholder interests with Prothya’s strategic objectives. You report to the Manager Engineering. What will you do? Define and justify projects. You establish the scope, objectives, roles, schedules, budgets and risks. You develop business cases and secure approval from project sponsors. Lead multidisciplinary teams. You bring together specialists from different disciplines, clarify responsibilities and keep the team focused on the agreed outcomes. Monitor progress and quality. You manage timelines, costs, scope and quality. You identify risks early, resolve issues and coordinate changes with the relevant stakeholders. Keep stakeholders engaged. You report to sponsors and steering committees, ensuring clear communication, transparent decision-making and stakeholder buy-in. Ensure GxP compliance. You keep track of existing and new GxP requirements within your area of expertise and make decisions within your remit. You manage or advise on SOPs, deviations and change control, and keep your mandatory training and training records up to date. Close out projects thoroughly. You organise the handover to operations, close out contracts and document results and lessons learned. You ensure that project outcomes are put into practice and deliver lasting value. Develop project management capabilities. You coach junior project managers and project leads, improve work processes and advise the management team on strategic opportunities. What do you bring? You combine technical insight with a broad perspective and the ability to influence others. You work independently, take initiative and know how to align diverse interests. Even under pressure, you remain precise, decisive and focused on solutions. You also have A master’s degree or an equivalent level of professional and analytical ability—for example, a bachelor’s degree combined with extensive experience—in biotechnology, chemical engineering, process engineering or a related field. At least eight years of experience in the pharmaceutical sector, including at least four years in strategic project management. A project management certification, such as PRINCE2 Practitioner or PMI PMP. Broad and in-depth knowledge of relevant GMP and GxP requirements. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English. The ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including international partners. Core Responsibilities

Lead long-term, multidisciplinary engineering projects from business case and approval through delivery, operational handover, and closeout, managing scope, budget, schedule, quality, and risks. Ensure GxP compliance, engage sponsors and stakeholders, develop project management capabilities, and advise management on strategic opportunities.

Requirements

Requires a master’s degree or equivalent professional and analytical ability in biotechnology, chemical engineering, process engineering, or a related field, at least eight years of pharmaceutical-sector experience including four years in strategic project management, and a project management certification such as PRINCE2 Practitioner or PMI PMP. Candidates should have broad knowledge of GMP and GxP requirements, excellent Dutch and English communication skills, and the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
