Position Overview The Sales Director, Germany & Austria, leads Stanley 1913’s wholesale business across two of our most important markets in EMEA, driving sustainable growth, strengthening strategic retail partnerships, and delivering regional commercial performance. Responsible for developing and executing market strategies that expand distribution, increase brand presence, and unlock new growth opportunities, this role ensures best-in-class execution across all sales channels. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Sales, EMEA, the role leads a team of Sales Managers and a Customer & Sales Support Manager, while collaborating closely with cross-functional partners and fellow sales leaders across key markets, including the UK and the Netherlands, to drive alignment, share best practices, and accelerate growth across the region. What You'll Do Drive wholesale strategy and business growth by partnering with the Senior Director of Sales to execute the commercial strategy for Germany and Austria, strengthening market position, expanding strategic distribution and marketplace opportunities, and enhancing brand equity while delivering sustainable growth across the region. Own regional sales performance and financial delivery, holding accountability for revenue, profitability, market share, and strategic growth objectives across Germany and Austria. Monitor business performance, identify opportunities and risks, and implement actions that accelerate growth, improve commercial effectiveness, and ensure the achievement of annual and long-term business goals. Lead business planning and forecasting through multi-year, annual, quarterly, and monthly planning processes, providing accurate forecasts aligned with business objectives and inventory requirements while supporting the transition from in-season trading to a pre-order-led business model. Build and grow strategic retail partnerships across brick-and-mortar and digital accounts, shaping commercial agreements and trade terms that drive mutual profitability, support operational efficiency, enable impactful brand activations, and accelerate growth across priority product categories. Own customer and category performance by leveraging market insights, sell-through data, margins, and inventory efficiency metrics to identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and drive informed commercial decision-making. Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Sales Managers and Customer & Sales Support professionals by providing clear direction, setting ambitious goals, fostering accountability, and creating an environment focused on collaboration, agility, and continuous improvement. Partner cross-functionally across the business, working closely with Finance, Merchandising, Marketing, Customer Operations, and Supply Chain teams to align priorities, optimize execution, and ensure operational excellence from planning through point-of-sale activation. Represent the Germany & Austria business within the EMEA Sales organization, collaborating with regional sales leaders to share best practices, align on strategic initiatives, and contribute to broader commercial growth objectives. Who You Are Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field. 10+ years of progressive sales experience within wholesale, distribution, or channel management, including 5+ years of experience leading and developing high-performing sales teams and managers. Experience within retail, consumer goods, lifestyle, outdoor, or sporting goods industries is preferred. Demonstrated success developing strategic customer partnerships, managing complex key accounts, and delivering sustainable revenue and profit growth across multiple channels and markets. Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience with Gross-to-Net management, budgeting, forecasting, revenue delivery, and translating performance insights into actionable business decisions. Strong understanding of retail dynamics, assortment planning, merchandising principles, and the consumer journey, with the ability to identify market opportunities and drive category growth. Experience leading change and driving commercial transformation, with the ability to implement new ways of working, scale business operations, and successfully navigate evolving market and customer dynamics. Proven leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of an organization and build trusted relationships with customers, partners, and cross-functional teams. Thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and multicultural environment, bringing a collaborative, adaptable, and results-oriented approach while fostering accountability, continuous improvement, and high team performance. Requirements
Requires a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, sales, or a related field, 10+ years of progressive wholesale, distribution, or channel sales experience, and 5+ years leading sales teams. Candidates should bring strong commercial and financial acumen, strategic account and retail expertise, proven leadership and change-management skills, and native-level German with fluent English.
