About The Role We are looking for an independent and enthusiastic Controller within the Statutory Accounting Team in Amsterdam. The Statutory Accounting team is responsible for the preparation of statutory accounts of local legal entities, as well as the largest and most complex consolidation (100+ entities) within the global Booking group. Your understanding of Dutch/US GAAP accounting, experience with preparation of complex consolidated Financial Statements, exposure to other functional finance areas (external audit/ tax/ technical accounting), in combination with strong communication skills and stakeholder management, will enable you to be successful in this role. The Statutory Accounting team is part of the Global Booking Accounting Organization, and you will work with the Corporate and Regional accounting teams, Booking Center of Excellence (COE) in India, and various other stakeholders (Treasury, Legal, Tax, External auditors) in finance and business. The role offers insight and development possibilities within both the Statutory Accounting and Tax Compliance & Accounting teams. Strong communication, stakeholder management, Dutch accounting and analytical skills are essential. You will be able to develop yourself, grow within the role, and challenge yourself to take on additional projects and responsibilities as they present themselves. Key Job Responsibilities And Duties Prepare the accounting/reporting bridge between US- and NLGAAP for each local entity Prepare NLGAAP consolidation bridge between US- and NLGAAP Manage the preparation of Consolidated annual financial statements (including disclosures) Support the calculation of maximum distributable reserve for interim dividend distributions in line with the Dutch Civil Code Regular review of P&L accounts in view of potential US-NLGAAP reconciling items Review, analysis, and documentation of accurate Dutch accounting treatment of new initiatives, products, and non-recurring transactions. Collaborate with Controllers, COE, Tax accounting, and other key finance departments such as FP&A, Treasury, Internal Audit, Risk and Control, etc. Take ownership and ensure accuracy of recurring reporting tasks and reviews Support and prepare recurring and ad-hoc stakeholder reports Drive process automation, standardization and simplification Support Direct/Indirect Tax Accounting teams when and if required Contribute to the overall success of the Statutory accounting team Please note that this list of duties is not exhaustive, and you may be required to complete ad-hoc tasks as requested by your manager. Role Qualifications And Requirements University (Accounting, Business, Economics) degree and/or postgraduate education (RA/ACCA)- Approx. 5-7 years of experience in finance and/or accounting, preferably within a Big4 environment in combination with multinational corporate environment Strong knowledge of Dutch GAAP/IFRS (USGAAP is a plus) Good knowledge of Dutch tax (fiscal unity) is a pre Experience in preparing the consolidated accounts and/or consolidation adjustments Strong IT experience in financial systems, including SAP (S4) and OneStream, is preferable High levels of personal effectiveness, particularly communication, organization, and the ability to focus on achieving project deadlines Enthusiasm to work in a fast paced, highly diverse, continuously developing and high achieving environment Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder management Enthusiastic, proactive and driven Fluent in spoken and written English (oral and written) Self-starter with a hands-on approach Benefits & Perks - Global Impact, Personal Relevance: Booking.com’s Total Rewards Philosophy is not only about compensation but also about benefits. Core Responsibilities
Prepare statutory accounts and US GAAP-to-Dutch GAAP reporting and consolidation bridges, and manage consolidated annual financial statements and disclosures. Review accounting treatments and reporting, support dividend reserve calculations and tax accounting, collaborate with finance and business stakeholders, and improve processes through automation and standardization.
Requirements
A university degree in accounting, business, or economics and/or postgraduate education such as RA or ACCA is sought, along with approximately 5–7 years of finance or accounting experience. Candidates should have strong Dutch GAAP/IFRS knowledge, experience with consolidated accounts, strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, and preferably experience with Dutch tax, US GAAP, SAP S/4HANA, and OneStream.
