Job Description

Your role The PGGM CETS team welcomes enthusiastic interns to join us for a four-month period starting in January or February 2027. You will contribute to our mission to accelerate the climate and energy transition through growth equity and private equity investments. Please note this vacancy closes on 25 October. Interviews will take place in the weeks immediately following the application deadline. As an intern you will~ Support all phases of the investment process, from market research and sourcing to due diligence, valuation, execution and portfolio company support. Gain hands-on experience in analysing high-growth companies focused on climate and energy solutions, building financial models and preparing investment materials. Work closely with a small and fast-growing team and engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including founders, management teams, advisors and co-investors. Your department PGGM is a Dutch pension fund service provider responsible for managing pensions for different pension funds, their affiliated employers and employees, with more than €250 billion in assets under management. Climate and Energy Transition Solutions (CETS) is a €1 billion investment strategy of PGGM, launched in 2024. The strategy was established to invest in companies where climate impact is embedded in the core of the business and scales alongside commercial success. Approximately €700 million is allocated to direct equity investments managed by the team. CETS focuses on opportunities across areas such as grid solutions, energy efficiency, circularity, sustainable fuels and carbon solutions. The team invests across growth equity and more asset-backed strategies, partnering closely with founders and management teams as companies move from initial commercial deployment towards scalable growth. Since its launch, CETS has built a portfolio of five companies. The team currently consists of six investment professionals and works closely with PGGM’s Infrastructure and Private Equity teams. CETS invests primarily in developed European markets, with a strong focus on the Netherlands. Your profile You are analytically strong, intellectually curious and motivated to work with companies where climate impact and commercial success go hand in hand. You are comfortable working in an entrepreneurial, professional team and are eager to take responsibility and learn. Strong academic background, preferably in engineering, natural sciences or a related technical or quantitative field. A background in finance, economics or a similar field is also acceptable. Clear interest in growth equity investing and the energy transition. Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to analyse companies, markets and business models in a structured and commercially rigorous way. Broadly developed through extracurricular activities such as internships, committee roles, entrepreneurship, top-level sports or volunteering. Enrolled at or recently (summer of '26) graduated from a Dutch university (hard requirement). Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Dutch is not required. We offer A full-time, four-month internship with a steep learning curve in a dynamic and mission-driven investment team. Requirements

Applicants should have a strong academic background, preferably in engineering, natural sciences, or another technical or quantitative field; finance or economics backgrounds are also acceptable. They must be enrolled at or have recently graduated from a Dutch university, demonstrate interest in growth equity and the energy transition, and have strong analytical, numerical, and English communication skills.
