Job Description As a Lead Engineer Marine Systems, you are responsible for the design of marine systems and machinery arrangements for newbuild vessels and major conversions. You combine hands-on engineering with project leadership, client contact and the technical guidance of designers and engineers. Tasks & Responsibilities Determine the marine system specifications together with the client. Design and engineer marine systems and machinery arrangements from scratch. Make pump, drive and propulsion calculations, system diagrams and layouts of technical spaces such as engine and pump rooms. Lead the engineering project and guide designers and engineers, while remaining focused on the technical work yourself. Ensure designs meet applicable classification requirements, including Lloyd’s Register and Bureau Veritas. Investigate solutions for the maritime energy transition, such as alternative fuel systems and energy-efficiency measures. Profile Technical Knowledge & Soft Skills Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering or comparable; Around 8 years of experience in a similar position; Experience developing marine systems and machinery arrangements; Knowledge of system components, piping materials and vessel layouts; Knowledge of relevant classification and authority requirements; Experience with engineering and design tools; Knowledge of electrical systems is a plus. Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a comparable field is required, along with around eight years of experience in a similar role. Candidates should have experience developing marine systems and machinery arrangements, knowledge of system components, piping materials, vessel layouts, classification requirements, and engineering design tools; electrical systems knowledge is a plus.
