Network Automation Engineer
Key Skills
Job Description
About Nebul At Nebul, we’re building Europe’s sovereign AI cloud — trusted, secure, and purpose-built for the next generation of intelligent infrastructure. We are a small, deeply technical team designing and operating cloud and datacenter platforms from the ground up, with a strong focus on security, compliance, and long-term scalability. Our platform delivers world-class AI and HPC capabilities while abstracting extreme infrastructure complexity through clear architectures, strong automation, and well-defined product roadmaps. What You’ll Be Doing As a Network Automation Engineer, you design, build, and maintain the automation systems that power Nebul’s datacenter and cloud networking environments. You operate at the intersection of network engineering and software development, turning complex infrastructure requirements into scalable, reliable automation. You are not just maintaining scripts — you are building the foundation for consistent, repeatable, and secure network operations across high-performance AI and cloud platforms. You define how our network infrastructure is deployed, configured, validated, and evolved across datacenter fabrics, cloud interconnects, and Kubernetes-based platforms. You work closely with platform engineers, infrastructure teams, and vendors to ensure Nebul’s network environments are automated, resilient, and ready to scale. This role requires strong hands-on technical depth: you must be able to work confidently with network architecture, automation frameworks, configuration management, observability, and operational workflows, and improve delivery through code and engineering discipline. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain automation for Nebul’s datacenter and cloud networking infrastructure. Develop repeatable workflows for provisioning, configuration, validation, and lifecycle management of network devices and services. Automate operations across: Datacenter network fabrics Ethernet and high-performance network environments Cloud and hybrid connectivity Kubernetes-related network integrations Build and maintain tooling for configuration generation, deployment, testing, and compliance validation. Improve network reliability and operational efficiency through CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and automated change management. Work closely with platform and infrastructure teams to integrate network automation into broader cloud platform delivery. Support observability, telemetry, and troubleshooting workflows through automated data collection and analysis. Collaborate with hardware and software vendors to ensure interoperability and operational consistency. Ensure network automation aligns with security, compliance, and sovereign cloud requirements. Balance speed of delivery with reliability, maintainability, and operational safety. What Your Day Will Not Look Like Logging into devices manually for repetitive configuration changes. Maintaining fragile one-off scripts with no engineering standards. Operating networks without testing, validation, or rollback mechanisms. Acting purely as a traditional network administrator without automation ownership. Working disconnected from the broader platform, cloud, and infrastructure roadmap. What You Bring 5+ years of experience in network engineering, infrastructure automation, or related roles. Strong hands-on knowledge of: Network automation frameworks and tooling Datacenter networking concepts and operations Python or similar scripting/programming languages Infrastructure-as-code and configuration management practices Experience automating configuration, validation, and operational workflows in production environments. Solid understanding of network protocols, switching, routing, and network services. Confidence working with engineers, platform teams, and vendors on deep technical topics. Structured, analytical mindset with strong troubleshooting and communication skills. Bonus Points If You Have Experience with AI/HPC networking environments. Knowledge of Ethernet fabrics and InfiniBand environments. Experience with Kubernetes networking and cloud-native infrastructure. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, and automated testing for infrastructure. Experience with observability, telemetry, and network compliance tooling. Background working in large-scale cloud, datacenter, or service provider environments. Eligibility & Application Information We welcome non-native Dutch speakers to apply. However, to be eligible, you must: Reside in the Netherlands and be able to commute to the office near The Hague. Be fluent in English (Dutch is not required). Ready to help automate Europe’s sovereign AI infrastructure? Apply now through Frank Poll and help Nebul build the network automation foundations for secure, scalable, high-performance cloud platforms.
Core Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain automation for datacenter and cloud networking, including provisioning, configuration, validation, and lifecycle management. Integrate network automation with platform delivery and improve reliability, observability, compliance, and operational safety.
Requirements
Requires at least five years of experience in network engineering, infrastructure automation, or a related role, with hands-on knowledge of network automation, datacenter networking, and Python or a similar programming language. Candidates should understand network protocols, switching, routing, infrastructure as code, and production automation workflows, and be able to collaborate with engineering teams and vendors.
About Nebul
Industry: Technology, Information and Internet
Company size: 51-200 employees
We eliminate compliance risks and return full ownership of your data to you, offering a 100% European alternative to global hyperscalers. ✔︎ The Foundation: European NeoCloud A secure, full-stack cloud built for compliance (GDPR/AI-Act), provisioning CPU, DPU, GPU and APU's. It features 1-click deployment, managed Kubernetes, managed databases, and sovereign NVMe storage to make complex infrastructure simple. ✔︎ The Brain: Private AI Factory A controlled environment to transform data into intelligence. Access a curated pack of open-source models (Llama, Mistral) and feed autonomous agents or secure workflows via AI Studio APIs, all governed by a private AI Observer. Expanding your IP with tailored AI, instead of open-sourcing your IP with public and generic AI. All on your terms. ✔︎ The Engine: GPU SuperClusters Elite-tier power for massive scale. Leveraging NVIDIA Blackwell and Hopper architectures, it scales from a single GPU to 1,000+ nodes, fueled by memory-based storage to eliminate data bottlenecks. Nebul leverages the latest NVIDIA Supercomputers to power your AI applications from efficient green energy data centers strategically located across the European Continent. In June 2024, Nebul announced €20M Euro funding round to facilitate expansion of EU Sovereign AI Cloud & Data Centers, serving European Native AI infrastructure projects and related engineering support. This funding allows Nebul to serve its expanding customer base and AI infrastructure demand in Europe.
